Mozeliak/Girsch has done a fine job retooling the bullpen. I just didn’t expect all the pieces to come together this quickly. Shreve was just so so with the Yankees. Ross was just so so with the Padres. Webb was lousy too. Poncedeleon and Hudson were starters in the minors. I’d pull the plug on Cecil, but it’s not my money.

Mozeliak told Tom Ackerman that Wainwright will probably go back in the rotation. I don’t think he has anything left, so he’ll have a short leash. I would have rather moved Martinez back in the rotation. He’s more valuable there than in the bullpen. If Wacha and Wainwright can’t come back and stick in the rotation I’d rather have Martinez starting a playoff game over Gant or Gomber.

Mistake throwing Wainwright into the rotation. I want to treat him right for all his time in STL but we've been down that path too many times and the current starters are doing to well to throw him back in there. He needs to be in the pen.

Next year will be interesting. All guys who can start for just about any team in MLB:

Martinez
Wacha
Wainwright (well the Cards think so anyways)
Reyes
Weaver
Gant
Gomber
Flaherty
Mikolas
Poncedeleon
Hudson

Waino has been pitching well in his rehabs.

He deserves a shot and I think we'll need him in some capacity over the next month.

This push we've been on comes with a tax, as we're seeing with guys go down here one at a time.

That list really is crazy.

It's a real shame that Carlos Martinez isn't healthy right now and is now compromised-goods with the shoulder problem. With the talent and strong-character-men we have ready to step into the rotation it would be nice to flip Carlos for something really great. He'll never be an ace. He'll never be the rock of the rotation.

I don't think Wacha will ever pitch a complete season again. Could definitely be wrong. I would find a way to move on from him.

Not thinking Weaver will ever be a guy who sustains himself as a 6-7 inning pitcher for a complete season.

I’m not sure Wainwright deserves a rotation spot back.

The only one that COULD be supplanted is Gant and he pitched 7 strong his last time out.

Waino should be a long Man or a 7th inning guy to further shorten games with Norris and Hicks and Hudson.

He's pitching well in his rehabs.

He's been the consummate company man here for a long-long time.

He's been the hallmark of what a Cardinal is.

If he's putting up zeros, and pitching well, he deserves to stand on the mound in the first inning if the opportunity presents itself, which I think it will.

This next month will be a grind. He will be needed. I hope he's capable of finishing this thing strong.

Next year SP
Martinez
Flaherty
Mikolas
Hudson
Gomber/Weaver/Wainwright

Closer/8th
Reyes/Hicks(Reyes ready for SP in 2020)

Bullpen
Many good options

Signing or trading for Starting/bullpen pitchers in the offseason will not be something we will be looking for. Cards will even have trading options this offseason

Instead of looking for pitching Mo can focus on getting a big bat. Even if that means letting Fowler or Ozuna go for nothing.

Bader and O’Neill will be in the Outfield with hopefully a big bat. Fowler will be a expensive player to come off the bench. Ozuna will be a great trading option with major league ready pitchers.

Wainwright’s deal is up after this year. He isn’t going to be on the team next year.

Helluva win right there.

O'Neil walk-off. Stripped down to his waist by his teammates.

Turn out the lights. Rockies play no one.

We’ve got the rest of this series and the Cubs to play.

Blowpen returns. Demoralizing to torch Hader and lose.

At this point 1) play to make wild card
2) play cubs to knock them into wild card.

Last night sucked. We had such control of that game. How are you going to walk that many batters.
