Defensive WAR this season has Bader’s 2.2 ranked 5th and Wong’s 2.1 ranked 6th in MLB. In the NL they are 2nd and 3rd behind Nick Ahmed.

The next highest defensive WAR at 2nd base is LeMahieu at 1.6. and the next highest WAR in CF is Lorenzo Cain at 2.1.

Getting rid of the stooges really was the cure for this team. It's amazing.

Mike Shildt has made all the right moves and has this team at 16-4 in August. They are looking like the best team in baseball right now. If he can go over .500 in Sept and get the Cards in the playoffs (which is looking good right now) he's as good as hired. So far Shildt is killing this job interview. Could you imagine the Cards on top of the Wild Card and with in sniffing distance of the Cubs in the middle of July? Me neither!

It’s really stunning how quickly the turnaround took place. I was afraid it was going to be the same old miscues and lapses until the end of Matheny’s deal. And I thought it would take some roster turnover to right the ship. I was dead wrong. And I couldn’t be more pleased to say it.

Ozuna to the DL with right shoulder inflammation.

Get ready for Adams in LF.

O’Neill, Bader, and Martinez in the outfield. Shildt is not MM he will play with the roster that will win. (With Ozuna on the DL)

If Adams gets hot he may get to play a few games in LF, but he should get most of his at bats off the bench.

He has hit more HR than any player with less than 250 at bats, so he may start a few games at 1st and Carp will shift to 3rd.

Man, this is exciting. I was tuning into every Carpenter at bat I could when he was on his tear like he was ‘98 McGwire, but the run this entire team is on is just insane.

When you look at the dugout during a game now Vs the first half of the season the change is remarkable.

The team is certainly buying into what Shildt is selling.

Despite giving up 5 earned, Mikolas goes deep for the 2nd time this year in what was the deciding factor in taking game 1 against the Rockies.

I hate that park.

Curse MLB for putting a team there.

WOW... A bit surprised they didn't wait until the end of the season.

Even if they made this decision internally, I'd prefer they had kept it that way.

No reason to mess with mojo.

No reason to set his record back to 0-0.

No reasons to give media an opportunity to take a negative turn if they lose a series or the magic diminishes now that he is manager.

@dgoold: #stlcards set to announce a three-year deal with Mike Shildt as manager, per multiples sources. Gone goes the interim tag.

Great, great read on Shildt and his main mentor Tony La Russa

@ESPNStatsInfo: The Cardinals are 26-12 under Mike Shildt, the best record in the NL since firing Mike Matheny.

That includes an MLB-best 19-5 record in August -- tonight they go for their 2nd 20-win month in the last decade (20-7 in May 2013).

Wacha just left the game with the trainer in Springfield after giving up 5ER in 2 1/3. Not good.

The manager did made some roster turnover since he took over. That was one part of his success. Brought in some minor league players and they were tearing it up so far. two starting pitchers are going to be used in the bullpen. Carlos and Adam. Adam have not pitch yet. Look like this is a perfect timing to get those two ready for the last 30 days of baseball. Do not forget the roster will expanse after on September first.

Man that’s bad. I didn’t want him or anyone else coming back from injury this late in the year and messing up the chemistry but getting hurt again is just unfortunate. Dan and Ricky were talking tonight about how Wainwright could come back this year. I understand its Waino, but if he even throws a single pitch the rest of this year it’ll be a terrible decision. Just let him spend the offseason healing so he doesn’t frick anything up. This team is on too much of a roll to throw a potential rotten egg in the game with this close of a race.
