Not sure if you guys saw but CBS had an article that said that Vegas had the O/U odds for every team in the SEC Regular season wins. It had MSU at 8.5 which absolutely stuns me and probably every other State fan. This is one of the Vegas lines in general that I don't get. I think this is a "bait" line. Because I have no problem betting today that MSU wins less than 9 games. And I think a lot of people would.

So all this tells me is, it looks like 2019 will somehow be better than 2018. I don't personally see it as everyone knows. But since Vegas sees something, all I'll say is it's likely to happen.

I was stunned at 8.5. The 4ooc games, UK loses a lot, Arky will still be bad, OM will be bad, but both on the road. So let’s say possibly those three. We still need to beat 2 more. Who do you think? @UT? @Aub? @A&M? Or LSU at home.

At Tennessee would be doable. Beating LSU would be a great win. Maybe they’re thinking that one. Sign me up right now for a 9 win season. Even if it’s counting a bowl win.

Maybe I should drop some money down on the under so either way I won’t be disappointed.

I would put Tennessee as more of a win than Kentucky. So there's 8. I'm probably still higher on Kentucky than most but that game still scares me. But I think last season will be enough on the mind to win. And like you said they lose a lot.

If this team could upset say (gasp) Alabama or even LSU with both of those being home games, those would be bigger imo than Auburn or Texas A&M because we really need a big home win after the Florida Fiasco. And no one will consider Kentucky or Ole Miss a big home win(even though Kentucky is imo). I will say I think Auburn takes a step back in 2019 so I believe it's winnable but we do so bad in Auburn, that I have to mark that as a garunteed loss. Everyone expects A&M to be so great, but we've done so well against them lately it's kind of hard to predict that game.

I'm with you Cdawg I'd take that today. But idk if I see more than 8 wins on the schedule either. But if Vegas is somehow correct on 9(I'm rounding 8.5 up) regular season wins then I think everyone including me would be back behind Moorhead.

Like my last year prediction, I see a 7 win season. 4ooc games, Kentucky at home and at least one of OM/Arky. And I’ll go with one from UT/A&M if those are a day game.

If it’s down to 8 it’s worth the drive to take the over IMO. I’m starting to buy in if Tommy stevens is really good.

Still I think 8 is way more than I would've said in January. Thought we'd be lucky to even make a bowl.

I agree I'm starting to buy into Tommy Boy and Zuber.

The schedule actually works out better for this cycle for State to be a contender because Alabama is at home. But I don't believe State is at that level again this year.

I'm starting to think Joe gets a big upset like LSU and drops some games we don't expect like Kentucky or Tennessee.

I think we go 8-4.

4 OOC wins. Arky Ole Miss UT

One win out of AU, LSU, A&M

We take the annual arse raping from Alabama

Kylin Hill does have a lot of potential but I am not sure he will ever reach that pinnacle. I hope I am wrong.

I am cautiously optimistic about the season.

I don’t think we will get a** raped by Bama. The last two years we have held our own against them so while I don’t necessarily think we win the game, I think we will be competitive and if we get some breaks we will have a chance in the fourth quarter.

8-4 is doable. If things go our way, 9-3 is also doable. The LSU game is in DWS so I'm not shying away from counting that as a W.

Metrics seem to indicate that Mississippi State is far ahead of Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ole Miss. Slightly ahead of Auburn and Texas A&M(unlike last year both are road games so beating both or maybe even 1 isn't realistic).

We are in the ballpark of LSU and they do come to Starkville. But looking at their schedule, they'll be undefeated when they come to State and I highly doubt State would be close. And I don't have to mention our Alabama gap.

The more I'm looking at State the more I'm intrigued. This seems like a team with a big floor and a big ceiling.

The consensus rn seems to be 7-5, 5th in the West. And that's certainly fair. I've seen people like Steele even go as far as to say States a top 25 team but will still end up 5th in the West. And that maybe true.

But remember we had the most abysmal Passing game in the SEC last year. And I've heard multiple media outlets outside of State criticize Fitzgerald's accuracy and rightly so. If Stevens can produce the type of season Trace Mcsorley had while Moorhead was his OC watch out, this will be a fun offense to watch. Because the OL and RBs are there, and Zuber hugely boosts our WRs so we just need 2 more to step up.

Schedule:
7/31 Louisiana (formerly ULA-LA) @New Orleans
8/7 Southern Miss
8/14 K-State
8/21 Kentucky
8/28 @auburn
10/5 BYE
10/12 @tennessee
10/19 LSU
10/26 @atm
11/2 @arkansas
11/9 BYE
11/16 Alabama
11/23 Abilene Christian
11/28 Blackbears

5 wins: Ula-la, K-state, Southern, Abilene C, Blackbears
4 probables: Kentucky, Tennessee, aTm, Arkansas
2 probable losses: LSU, Auburn
1 loss: Bama

Based on what we've seen so far (ie no offense against decent defenses) that would put us at 7 wins for me.
I hope we do better, but will need to see it before I believe it based on how bad we were offensively last season and the lack of adjustments we seemed to make.
