Can someone give me a good summary or point me to a good article? I haven't kept up with the roster much with so much change. I feel like if we have a decent DL, we could have a chance at an average defense, and with an average defense, surprise some folks a bit.

Is is supposed to be our worst unit?

Yep, you want State info on a message board this ain’t it. I give a little bit;

David Turner is the DL coach and he is the guy that coached, Fletcher Cox, Montez Sweat, Chris Jones, Jeffery Sims, among other greats. He said he likes this group and he does not say such things lightly. Bodes well but:

A lot depends on staying healthy cause so many of our guys have fought injuries, not this year but in the past.

I could go through them one by one but let’s say talent there but they are unproven.

After last night I’d like to know where the d-line is. Didn’t look like any were on the field. Maybe it was because it was hot….

DT is past his prime and has no business being a DL coach at this level anymore.

I don't think it's him as much as a clueless DC who was a special teams coordinator before this role.

We have a first time head coach who hired a special teams coordinator/LB coach as a DC. Hired a co-DC who only has 2 years as DC. This is on Lebby not hiring someone who may have some experience calling a game. We basically have a HC/OC, DC/coDC with exactly 2 years between all 3 in their roles. This is a recipe for disaster especially in the SEC.

Mullen was wise enough to hire an experienced Torbush to handle that side. Joe had a veteran DC in Shoop (I think that was him). Even Croom hired Ellis Johnson. Those guys had some years under their belt as DC's.

All 3 of these guys are cutting their teeth. Umass is the only possible win on our schedule left.
