If we had gotten Lashley and Cushenberry too I would have been perfectly content with this class. But we didn't.

Losing AJ sucks but I like where we stand w/ WR right now anyways. I just thought we'd lose him to Bama rather than OM. I could have at least cheered for him at Bama

True. Lashley is Johhny Cooks nephew. That's more than just a kid getting away. That's a sign of a major problem.

True, but he is from Starkville and quite possibly one of the most talented WR's I've seen in high school.

It's not about losing a recruit. It's about losing a recruit should have been gift wrapped if you put in the proper time.

Look. We whiffed big time outside of saving face with Simmons. It's ok to say that. Trying to spin it looks stupid.

Not trying to spin anything. It's definitely the class that should have been. Just saying the world isn't over either. It's been made out to be much worse than it is, all of these guys are ranked in the top 20-25 of their positions. It isn't like we loaded up on scrubs.

Something else I was considering this morning - not only did we lose AJ/Lashley/Knott/Davis, but we lost them to teams we have to play against every year. That's a double-whammy right there

Nah, it's been made into exactly what it is. Mullen thought he was either leaving or that the recruits were already locked up and stopped caring. Either way, it's the coaching staff's fault for not being able to recruit. You don't pay a coach 5 Mil and be cool with this recruiting class.

There probably will be some guys in this class that turn into studs, but there will also be a good portion that transfer or are never heard of again. Just like the 2012 class.

Losing a regular kid to Alabama - understandable. Losing AJ Brown and Scott Lashley to anyone - not understandable.

AJ seems like a dip shite and has been saying he wanted to leave town all along. I see being upset about Lashley for sure but the writing has been on the wall with AJ.

The dude signed and then proceeded to talk only about why he didn't pick us and how he didn't get enough attention. That really should tell you all that you need to know. His decision was literally more about not picking us than it was about picking someone else.

No doubt. The numbers have already been crunched and the hit-rate on 2/3*s is much lower than on blue chips. Just because we're MSU doesn't mean we're magically immune to the statistics. For every Banks/Slay/McKinney/Prescott there's several players that I don't even recall the names of because they were never good enough to contribute. Or if they did contribute, they typically got embarrassed by SEC athletes.

And that is ok, all of them don't pan out, that happens anywhere. It was a small class, you address specific needs. We did that and did it with top 25 ranked players in the country at their positions.

It really sucks we didn't get Lashley, that was a huge need. But letting it overshadow the fact that we have absolutely loaded up at other spots is silly. Think about what we have coming up on defense. In two years your starting defense will include Peters, Lewis, Adams, Green, Erroll, Simmons, Smitherain, McLaurin, Nero, and Kobe. That's what this staff does well, they fill needs instead of taking loads of best availables. It seems to be working pretty well, and on far inferior talent than what is currently coming through.

Well, in the past I disagree. The reason we were able to spur the statistics is because Mississippi wasn't well evaluated. That is and has changed. People have noticed the value of some of these kids who don't necessarily get picked up on nationally, we need to learn how to fend off Saban, because I can promise you he's going to continue targeting more of our kids.

Saban knows Lashley will never play at Alabama. That pull was purely because he didn't want him at State. You can bank on that.

I have to think the coaches likely picked up on that and some point you do have to back away from him during the process. I mean you don't want somebody with that attitude around your other recruits poisoning the well.

I also agree about Lashley possibly never seeing much playing time and Bama and Saban only taking him to keep him away from us. We had a team that should've beat them in '14 and could've done it this year with a better O-line.

I see you keep posting this, but where are you getting that from?

106,125,87,65, 27,28,38,44

Those are the ones I see that are outside of the top 25 for their positions...

He just posted on Twitter again about Mullen not visiting him. Weird that he keeps feeling like he has to justify his decision to others.

Still going. Is this dude oblivious to the fact that Mullen can only go see him so many times? You would think he would be over it by now, Mullen rustled those jimmies good. Dude is really going to lose it when he realizes he spitefully went to OM over a slight that didn't exist.
