Did Mullen use a fullback at UF? I don't remember whether he did or not. I kind of agree with Bundy here, with all of the emphasis we are putting on getting TE's and getting them the ball, I'm not so sure that we are going to use a FB. Dak's ability to break free in our system is set up by spreading the defenders thin.
Also I don't think Shump was lined up at FB for the score against UM, weren't we in the twin backs formation we ran so much toward the end of the season?
I may be wrong, but I view 2 RB's in the backfield as a bigger threat. You have so many more options than you do with a FB in the game, and with Shump, Williams, and Griffin we have 3 big RB's that can fill that role when its 3rd and short.

and this is why it's ok that we have a WALK ON possible fullback

Agreed, I was just addressing a FB in general.

22 seconds shows Shump as a FB in the I
Our best overall rushing success under Mullen came in 2009 -- running twin backs with Dixon and Ducre and/or with Hanrahan at fullback/h-back for Dixon.
I'm not saying I want it to be our every down package. But I want and expect it to be a part of our repertoire.

Got you, I still feel like we have enough power backs to fill the role. And as you say, its not an every down thing. And he is just a walk on, another hard worker on the field won't hurt anything.

CL picks up the story
Did we just take a huge step forward in playing the game?
In other news, TE Pierce seems to be a possible add to the 2014 class.

De’Vinner declined to comment on the visit. He did say the trip was to bring his nephew, Maurice Smitherman. Smitherman is three-star defensive back according to 247Sports.
