A healthy Malcolm Johnson could go for 800+ yards.
If he isn't a huge, consistent part of our offense, I will not stop castying all season.

Do you guys think we have a shot at any 5 stars for this class based on these newly released rankings by 24/7

I think it's unlikely we get any of the 5*s(unless Rod Taylor gets bumped up a few more points, who we are still not considered favorites for)
However, I think we STOCKPILE 4*s in this class -- to finish with a much better overall class(by average rankings), although it will be even smaller overall than this year. Going to end up being 10-15 4* highschoolers in MS, in which we already are considered imminent favorites for more than half of them(MANY fall in MSU strongholds this year after the opposite was true last year). We could easily end up with 10 or more 4*s next year...
If we take 20 next year(which is a stretch considering we only lose 11 and will likely be on a 2 scholarship reduction against the 85 number), it will be an top 15-20 class IMO...

Well one thing the last few years has taught me is to NEVER consider us an imminent favorite on a top shelf MS recruit until the final month of recruiting AFTER OM has had a chance to make their "real final offers". No bigger MSU strongholds than Philadelphia and Houston and we lost Johnson and nearly lost Jones both when OM got serious about heppin' at the end of the recruiting process. Now this is only an issure for a Top 5 type guy from MS but never again will I consider anyone like that a true commit to us until we get to January before signing and see what interesting things happen. The Reb recruiting "network" was bad enough under Nutt but it appears it has raised even another level with Freeze. I'm sure one of the reasons for which he was brought in.

Why did you expect it this year?
Just figured there would be a big difference in pass play calling not that TR wasn't second fiddle to Relf. He has the arm so it makes sense to me..

So lets just grab 15 four star recruits and call it quits.
Brewster and Townsend gonna be picky.

Wasn't Brew working on a 4* in Indiana when he went up to see Daniel?

I am assuming Nikia Cathey is going to add a star eventually.
We ain't got time for no three stars.

Mizzou and TN are his leaders? Surely that will change.

He just has SEC fever right now. Brewdaddy will turn that into SECWest nile virus soon enough.

I am going to email Stricklin and ask him why Brew doesn't drive a maroon Ferrari. If Ole Miss tries to steal any recruits...just grab the Ferrari and steal them back. What recruit is going to turn down a ride in that vehicle?

You are just determined to be a negative MSU fan then. How quickly you forget about all the top-notch talent in MS that Mullen has gotten and held onto. We've only lost the "in-state" recruiting battle against them in ONE of Mullen's 5 recruiting classes.
The talent is largely in our strongholds this year -- outside of Buford at Lafayette. Last year, we were virtually guaranteed to not get 4 of the top 10 at this same point in the process(Conner, Mix, Buchanan, Kailo). This year, we're only "out of the game" with 1 of the 10.

Him making a valid point doesnt make him negative. Just because it isn't something most people don't want to hear or acknowledge doesn't make it negative.

The post is negative because it shows ONE SIDE of the story(the negative side) without also acknowledging the positive side and thus presenting itself as well-rounded. I simply gave the other side of the coin. What valid point? That -- in 5 recruiting classes -- they've "taken" CJ Johnson from us? Well, in that spirit, we took Quay Evans from them.
Why are State fans determined to lay down for them at the smallest sign of our adversity -- or their improvement? You've been at the front of that line an awful lot lately(Chris Jones to OM threads, etc...). It's easy to acknowledge and congratulate their improvement without taking a bow to them like many here are apparently in a hurry to do.

Just trying to be realistic, not strictly negative or giving up by any means. Basically just saying nothing should be taken for granted on who leads for any of these MS guys until the last month of recruiting occurs if they are a 5 star or high 4 star type. OM pulled it off in 2011 with their behind the scenes shenanigans on Johnson and nearly did again this year (if you believe Jones' quotes rather than his Mom's). I don't count 2012 because OM was in total flux at the coaching position during that time which rendered them pretty ineffective in recruiting in general and on top of that Quay Evans got in as an EE anyway which was helpful. Also Quay committed to us early in the football season. So we didn't take him from OM at the last minute like they are getting famous for doing. They've taken others too (Moore, Brassell, got Whitehead to decommit although they lost him to Auburn) but I don't really count those guys since they were not in our traditional territory and may have never been sincerely committed to us to begin with. I'm more focused on their techniques for getting in on Johnson and Jones at the 11th hour in traditional MSU strongholds. And after what they pulled off this year, taking players away from the likes of Georgia, FSU, AL, etc. nobody can deny that whatever they are doing its working.

I'd hold off awhile on this assumption...
They won't go into places like Starkville, West Point, etc... and take players that we want. Philadelphia isn't strongly MSU territory and hasn't been traditionally. People just think that because that HS coach is an MSU alum and it's geographically closer to MSU. Since 2002, MSU has signed one kid from Philadelphia HS(Josh Boyd), OM has signed one, Memphis has one, and USM has one...
Ultimately, they flipped CJ when his position coach and DC left(Diaz) AND his lead recruiter and primary contact with MSU(Hud) left. That's a pretty big piece to the puzzle that people leave that out of the equation in the meltdown. Was he bought? Sure. But it still took extreme circumstances to get him away from us. There have been ALOT of organizational changes in our booster network and even our coaching/recruiting system because of the loss of that player. People that think otherwise just aren't peeking behind the curtain at all -- and refuse to see how things actually went down with Chris Jones.
Last I checked, we held onto Chris Jones...and we almost flipped Lavon Hooks from them despite only recruiting him starting in late November(after THEY placed him in JUCO).
They are not "playing the game" better than us in MS. If they were, they would have actually gotten Chris Jones. Lord knows they threw everything they had at him. He was the only recruit there on the 25th weekend that didn't sign with OM. They are like the drug dealer that buys 5 houses rather than sitting on the cash and properly laundering it. When you flaunt it, you draw unnecessary attention. We'll see what kind of heat they've got coming down the pipeline.
Regardless, over the last decade, we've won every bit as many in-state recruiting battles with them as we've lost. People need to approach it as such instead of being scared of what big, bad OM is doing. Fanbase attitude projects onto players directly and indirectly -- and that effects their recruitment on some (maybe small) level. At this point, they come off as the carefree badass, and we come off as the insecure, needy weakling -- That's the perception -- although in reality, that is bullshite.
