For the first time in forever, I haven't followed LSU Football since the end of last season. I'll watch every game and cheer for the Tigers like I have my whole life, but life got busy and I didn't keep up with things. I really have no idea what this team will be like.

I'm not interested in too much negative. If LSU is to win 10+ games this year, tell me why ...

They won't. Not this year.

1. Defense/Aranda
2. Better kicking game (very underrated effect imo)
3. This one is more unproven, but: A less predictable offense with a potentially really good QB.

Edit: you asked for reasons if they were to do it. Those would be my reasons.

Neither does ANYONE else. If they say they do, they’re lying. Not a single person, not even the players, know how this offense will be with all the new faces and an OC nobody in the country but O wanted. The defense SHOULD be elite, but that’s not a given. This team could go 3-9 or 12-0. Nobody has a clue how the season will play out yet.

Saban dies and the NCAA Shuts down their season.

Kirby loses all his RBs and QBs.

Someone burns down Jordan Hare.

Nick Fitzgerald gets busted for distribution or narcotics or breaks his leg and is lost for the season.

Dan Mullen gets “Petrinoed” for the Cannizzaro “AD” department coworker.

1. Defense
2. OLine
3. Decent Qb play

We’ve won a lot of games the last two decades with shaky qb play and I expect that position to be better than adequate this year. That’s gotta mean something, right?
Defensive tradition carries this team anyway. This year’s defense will be OUTSTANDING.
The OLine should be at least as good as last years and likely better.

Go back and look at the last two decades.
10 wins is the minimum standard of success with the talent LSU has once again.

The strengths on the lines of scrimmages and may wear some teams out.

Big IF to if we win 10 games we are going to have to stay injury free in the defensive backfield.

We don’t know.

That’s the positive and the negative. Defense will be really good but that’s only going to get us about 6 wins.

Offense is going to have to be a threat. Everything rides on one of the QBs developing and E installing an effective offense.

I don’t see them winning 10 but I don’t see 6 either. If it were my money I would bet on 8-4.

God I still can't believe Orgeron is our coach.

Every once in a while that frank reality just hits you in the face like a ton of bricks.

For all the wailing and gnashing of teeth about the offense over the years; the defense only gets credit for 6 wins a year?

So the offense carried the load another 4-7 times a year more than a few years?

Damn

They will win 10 games if they make the needed changes before the Miami game.

Just a heads up —He wasn’t asking for reasons LSU would lose ten games.

I agree. I believe the league is more balanced this season.
LSU beat Auburn last year when Auburn was at full strength. That team beat Georgia on the legs of Kyron Johnson. Johnson was injured in Auburn's victory over Alabama. Without Johnson, Auburn was no match for Georgia in the SEC C.
I believe our defense will be stronger, more depth, and I believe the offence will be more productive. No more facing eight men in the box.

1. The DL is as close to 2011-12 level as it's been since that time

2. A transfer QB will be starting. While the bar isn't extraordinarily high, LSU's best QB's over the last 6 years were transfers

3. The personnel will force LSU to rely on its passing game more than they've wanted to in recent years and the strength on offense is WR

Wrong. Pettway was hurt all year. In fact he tried to play during the LSU game and couldn’t do anything. Thus Johnson never got a breather.
