expecting anything special from this 5* filled team we have. I thought with Poythress and WCS, there would be enough veterans to steady this team, but we are about to go into March and I just don't see anything special coming from this team.

Mark Story had an article in the HL this morning basically stating that he didn't see this team having a 2011 type run in them, and I agree.

What do you guys think? I didn't expect perfection, but I did think they would get better as the season went on, and their last 2 games at Rupp make me think there is no run in them to end the season.

This team is a toss up. They look good and play hard one game, play pitiful the next. I don't see them getting on a run that brings a title. I'm not expecting a lot out of them come tourney time.

They have one advantage that could possibly carry them in the NCAA tournament. They are best offensive rebounding team in the country.

The problem the last 2 games is they can't hit a damn jumpshot. They have made 3 3's the last 2 games and one of those was James Young's desperation 3 with like 30 seconds left last night.

If I felt like their were some elite teams in college basketball this year I would be more worried, but there just aren't that many good teams. 5 ranked teams went down just last night.

I really don't want this team to throw another lob the rest of season.

Yeah, that one at the end of the game was awful.

I'd honestly prefer they just try to shoot it. At least they would give the other guys a chance to rebound it or they will go to the free throw line.

This team could beat any other team in the nation if they really wanted to.

So much talent. So little heart.

That is thing that has been the most evident the last 2 games between them and their opponents.

Both Arkansas and LSU were playing for their NCAA tournament lives. If Kentucky would have just matched their intensity for 90% of both games they would have probably won both of them pretty easily.

Instead they waited until it looked like they might lose then tried to turn it on. You can't get away with shite like that this late in the season,

This team is good enough to beat any team in the nation. However, they aren't consistent enough to make a tournament run.

Sadly I think JD nails it.

And the now finger pointing going on after the Arkansas game is fricking embarrassing. On behalf of Cal AND the players. Lots of blame to spread around. I'd rather see us lose with guys on the floor who may not be as talented but who actually give a shite. I put that on Cal. And I put the not giving a shite (that much is apparent in their post-game interviews) on the players.

It is hard to say a kid - and these are still kids - has talent at this point in life. Some folks purported great did not stay that way, and some unnoticed went on to greatness. That being said the basic issue if if they can string together 6 wins when they really must. At this time it is most unsure, and time is drawing to a close to think the probability is great this late in the season. Therein lies the heart of it all.

0-0 (as they will certainly get a bid to start the NCAA tournament
vs
6-0 (the record they must attain to win it all)

These are still kids - and kids who have had folks whisper in their ear how good they are - and adulthood requires a much different level of play, game in and game out.

As for another UK team, the ladies finish @ home against a capable Vanderbilt team in Memorial sunday (tomorrow) so come out if you can and cheer them on.

This game is making me lose what little faith I had left. No fight. Just lay down when they get hit in the mouth.

I was impressed with how they battled back, but there is no excuse for the way they played the first 30 something minutes of that game.

Shame it takes their coach getting kicked out to light a spark under the butts.

I'd be impressed if they won but they can't even manage that.

The first half of the Ole Miss game has really been the only time all season they haven't played down to their competition which is probably the most frustrating thing.

Kentucky has lost 2 in a row now. I fear they will be taking a lot of frustration out on Alabama Tuesday.... The warm up for Florida.
