I'm self imposing a ban

I first started posting on TigerDroppings back in 2007. My reason was not to come over and gloat because of the hiring of Coach Saban at Alabama. My reason was because of getting banned from TideSports because I didn't fall in with the crowd and proclaim that LSU was winning with Nick Saban's "players". I didn't fall in with that crowd and stated that the players that Nick Saban recruited were now the responsibility of Les Miles. From that moment it was his job to further develop and mold these players into what they could be. When you look at the success that they have had and how big the LSU / Bama rivalry has gotten I'd say he did a pretty good job.

I found TigerDroppings through a link posted on TideSports and lurked for a while before finally deciding to join. My joining was met with a lot of ragging and hostility but soon subsided because it was apparent that I was not here to start crap, flame other posters or teams, and because I simply wanted to discuss sports.

Now, let's fast forward a little bit to the beginning of the SECrant which when first started was a great idea. It allowed a separate forum for people that cheered for other SEC teams to discuss SEC sports without cluttering up an LSU board. The SECrant has always been a place to get information and to discuss topics but it has slowly gone from a great idea by Chicken to something that has become almost unbearable to read.

This can be seen in that you cannot start a thread about ANYTHING without some crap getting started, or someone purposely flaming and calling people out (this thread will more than likely suffer the same). You cannot start a thread discussing issues or asking opinions on an opposing team without the barrage of being told you are obsessed or butthurt. Whatever happened to someone being able to start a thread that encourages discussion instead without having to deal with people ganging up on you? If you don't believe me, then pick a number of threads on here and start reading them. As you're reading, see how quickly it goes from a possibly good discussion to complete garbage, sayings, and memes.

In my opinion, this board has really become the total opposite of what it was started for. With all that being said, I am taking a self imposed ban for a long while, if not permanently. For all those that have been here from the start of the SECrant it's been fun and I hope you all have safe travels over the summer and into football season. For all the others that constantly flame, criticize, and do absolutely nothing to bring anything useful or informative to the board, congratulations on screwing up a good forum.




And since it's coming anyways, inb4:
