Did OM just offer him the starting job immediately?

He would have been behind Trask right? Or are we in play for someone of even higher caliber?

IMO, which is just a guess. There may have been a mutual agreement the he may not have been a good fit for Mullen's offense. Maybe he didn't appreciate us looking at other QB's. Maybe some off the field issues didn't sit well with Mullen.
At the end of the day, he went somewhere else that he feels is better for him. Life goes on, let's have some class and wish him the best and get off our coaches asses and let them do their jobs.

I don't like it. Thought Corral was more talented than any QB on our roster. All of other good options are locked up to other schools.

However, Mullen knows what he is doing with QBs.

It's a weird flip. Ole Miss has a shite coach and a bad team on probation. Have to think we told Corral something he really didn't like.

Stings. A lot. But won't make guess as to what happened. There is zero chance he chose Ole Miss over Florida unless we helped edge that along. Especially considering Mullen is a substantially better coach.

Mullen clearly didn't want him, man. I don't really get it, and I hope we have another plan that's not named 'make Feleipe Franks serviceable'.

I don't think Corral would have ever been offered by Mullen had he been the coach from the start. That said, I certainly would have been happy to have had him. He wasn't a QB that Mullen wanted to build the offense around and ultimately I don't think Corral was happy with just being another option.

I hate saying "trust the coaches" because I have never been one of those people but I do have a higher level of confidence in Mullen given his history in this conference producing quality QBs.

I still think that he will end up being a good QB. Mac and Nuss broke QBs here.

Look at Zaire from the ND v LSU game and then how he played here.

I think this is probably true. Losing him looks bad and stirs up all the Anti-Gators, but is probably best for him and us in the long run.

Give Mullen a chance, there may be another Tebow out there somewhere. We just need to find him and get him to UF or there may be a surprise already on the team that could rise up with the right coaching.

We haven't had a quarterback since Tebow, and Muschamp was just as bad a QB developer if not worse and made Driskel look at the very least like he knew what he was doing. Driskel shits all over Franks his Sophomore year.

Zaire played in three games (thanks McElwain) all season and I'm not sure if he played one full one outside of Mizzou. If he had gotten the reps he needed he might have been okay.

However, how are we going to make Franks good? At least with Driskel you could see at the very least he had vision and had some terrible WR's who were jogging their routes.

Franks has an arm, but he has no football IQ. He doesn't even have the capacity to run the ball because he can't hold onto the goddamn ball.

We have a quarterback who can't run, who can't read a defense, who doesn't know how to call protection (his line does it for him), who stares at his receiver, who fumbles without contact, who can't throw an out, who can't throw a slant, who can't connect downfield, who doesn't know how to step into the pocket, who doesn't know how to navigate the pocket and worse of all: Doesn't know when to throw the ball away.

It's one of those guys who probably does great in camp, but can't get it done on the field. As a P.S., Brian Johnson has worked with Trask in the past -- he is the name to look out for.

I thought this was destined to happen from the time Mullen was hired. His size and skill set is just too different from what Mullen likes to run, which isn't good for Florida or Corral.

I just never said as much because I knew I'd get downvoted into oblivion for letting reality rather than what I wanted to happen guide my opinion.

Downvoted because you were worried about getting downvoted.

If we get Emory Jones it's a good trade. If we don't. It's bad.

Dunno if it's categorically bad if no EJ, but definitely means smaller margin for error. Would say it looks bad until you see what he replaces the spot with though period... Is EJ visiting this weekend? Saw CBs roll in but hasn't seen anything re:visit. Also on phone so not sure if he's intending to sign or enroll early off the top of my head. If not, plenty of time to work magic. From a fit standpoint, he makes a ton of sense.

Eta just caught up on your recruiting thread. Sounds like positive trends at least.
