It kinda makes sense with that little segment on ESPN this morning. Maybe he knew Mora was gonna be fired in advanced and wanted to fan the Florida rumors/flames.

Why would he want to do that?
Kelly approached UF with his interest. This has never been UF begging him to come here.

Per Coaching Thread:
1. UCLA has a ten million dollar buyout of their current staff.
2. There is a better campus in the city, let alone the state.
3. UCLA doesn't have a very supportive fan base, almost no one knows what's going on in the football world.
UCLA can't afford a Kelly hire, and their fanbase doesn't give enough shits about them and they have an in-city rival that is a better program for recruiting and prestige.
He's Gator, this isn't even a blip on Kelly's radar.
ETA: Excuse me, it's a 12 million dollar buyout of their HC alone, this isn't even including his staff which could go upward of 15 million, plus another 5 that they're going to have to pay Chip Kelly.
Seriously, this isn't even remotely concerning. If he wants to win championships and have an easy job, Florida is the place to do it. Recruiting is a breeze, the East is diggity dogshit and the heaviest rival is in the south of the state. Chill the frick out, gentlemen.

Do we really know that though?

Okay, okay, last edit: Let's say Kelly does go to UCLA --
They're paying:
12 Million to their ex-HC alone.
This isn't counting his assistants and all the rest which Kelly has already expressed he kind of wants to ''clean house'' and have his way with a program.
So we're talking about 15 - 17 million.
Plus, they're going to have to pay more than us, and we're probably going to pay something like 5 a year. So on top of that, they're going to have to pay 5 more. (Chip Kelly will not receive the same amount that McElwain did, that I can assure you guys).
So we're talking about at least 23, maybe 25 for UCLA to be paying in year 1.
THEN, on TOP OF THAT, we're talking about bringing in his assistants, and of course the fact that UCLA's football facilities are way worse than our own. We're already upgrading ours, and have been for the past two years.
So now we're talking probably around 30??
So on first objection:
They don't have those kinds of simoleons, period. NO school can pay like that outside of a place like UF where we get money from multiple sports and have multiple championship teams or near-championship teams yearly in different sports.
On second objection:
Kelly wants to win football, and I can guarantee you that he has absolutely no desire of rebuilding a program like UCLA that has never been all that good in football.
Why in the frick would Chip Kelly, who clearly wants to just coach and not construct, go to UCLA where they're riding back to back losing seasons and haven't won their division since 2012, let alone the PAC since 1998?
The third objection:
He has publicly stated that recruiting is not something he likes to spend time on -- so here's the situation at UCLA:
They have worse facilities than Florida, they have an immediate rival inside the city with more currency, prestige and support for their football team (and a cooler mascot, this is mostly for laughs) and really, he will almost always be competing and losing with USC unless he can beat them three times in a row, and only until then will he probably monopolize the recruiting base there, and maybe even then he will not.
To sum up:
UCLA has to pay a lot more money than Florida does.
UCLA has a weaker recruiting base than we do.
UCLA has an immediate rival in their city who is better.
UCLA has less support for their football program by a lot.
UCLA has worse facilities than Florida.
UCLA has never had a winning culture in football.
UCLA has had back to back potentially non-bowling years.
UCLA hasn't been in a big bowl since 1998.
Literally, guys:
This would be like him going back to Oregon, where he'd have to fight for the scraps thrown to him by USC just so he could have a small chance to actually win against an in-city rival.
He's not going to UCLA.

Fwiw, it wouldn't be that hard to get UCLA winning in the Pac-12 with the recruiting base over there.

What if he was being used as some type of reinforcement?

Then Fuchs needs to fire everyone on that plane.
Posted on 11/20/17 at 9:51 am to atlgator
Are we tracking planes today that are coming from NH? How will he be at the press conference?
Posted on 11/20/17 at 10:27 am to finchmeister08
I don't think he'll be at the press conference today, but I think Stricklin announces him today

You're awfully concerned about Florida getting Chip Kelly, aren't you?
