I agree we may not have an SEC starter level QB on the roster but letting Lagway walk who was getting over 3 million in NIL was the smart move with what he has put on tape. Just need to use money wisely getting another QB and other players.

What I said was that Billy seems like a good guy but it was time to go.

I have seen a few short clips of him but not sure what to think. Maybe someone this OC can get some results with like he did with King but probably not someone with real high potential. With him declaring it does look like that is where we are headed. The positive is there will be no learning curve.

I'm kind of excited about next year but I'm also dumb. ::shrugs::

Why? We have a brutal schedule, our roster is leaving in mass we are very screwed....I mean going even 7-6 would be very good...I look forward to the years after when it settles down, but next year will be very, very brutal. 4 or 5 win brutal..we have a very bad team right now. Best not to get your hopes up..rather be surprised they did so well then having high hopes and it not happening....last decade has thought me that.

How is everyone going to feel if Lagway goes somewhere where they play us and has a stellar season?

I mean if Faulkner is that great of a OC as soon as he was hired his first step on campus should have been at Lagway's door, to talk to him tell him what type of offense he wants to run and tell him he thinks he can get him back to where he wants to be in his career

That didn't happen and im not sure a back up QB from Georgia Tech is something to get excited about?

We need to go get a proven starter and then if the guy from Georgia Tech does come here he has another year to wait his turn get better and see where we are at?

I’ll take my chances. Slim chance at a major program.

Lagway may thrive somewhere where the competition is weaker, who knows. There’s a lot of issues with Lagway as a passer, and that’s supposed to be the best part of his game. Best of luck to him.

I truly wish him the best in the Big 12 or a group of 5 conference. I believe he could be successful in that environment. I just hope for his sake that he doesn't follow Napier to JMU.

If Lagway goes somewhere else and all at once is reading a defense good and playing really well I would be very surprised but I would still say getting rid of the over 3 million NIL obligation was clearly the right move here with how he has played. I also think if Lagway has real good success next season it will be because the coach was smart and hid his weaknesses as much as possible. I would be really surprised if Lagway starts seeing the field like the top passing QBs do. It would be interesting if someone in the SEC rolled the dice on him to see what would happen.

My guess is he is an NIL move also. They probably think he just isn't worth nearly what he is getting and they are probably right though I have no idea what his NIL is. A very high character kid though and a hard worker. I think he could probably have a pretty nice year outside of the SEC.

Compared to our usual no but compared to other teams for sure....

we have
@Auburn
Ole Miss
@ Mizzou
@ Texas
Georgia
vs South Carolina
vs Oklahoma
@ Kentucky

That is not an easy schedule for most teams at all..a ton of new faces this year too. So we will have games were we play very well, and very bad. It happens in sports when you have a ton of change at positions and leadership. Unless we have the next Urban Meyer on our hands

Wait so the offer was lessened by 50k? So we offer 50k less when he says no to the offer? Maybe I read it wrong... Wtf are we doing...my goodness. This offseason has to be the worst offseason we have ever had in my lifetime..actually it very much has been, zero doubt. We desperatly need to fix our football program, badly..it is so terrible it is insane.

I wouldn’t read too much into things Hal says on Twitter. Also, what specific situation are you upset about regarding NIL with our current players?

I think Hal is just saying some of these players end up taking less on NIL deals with other teams sometimes because they are mad their former team didnt give them the number they wanted. Like their ego is too big to return to the team they are leaving because they didnt get close to what they wanted. My view is any player willing to leave for less than UFs best offer unless it's clearly a better situation for them to play etc can kick rocks with a pouty attitude like that. The market showed them their request was too much.
