People really wanted to bench Trask...

After tolerating Franks play for 2+ years...

I fricking hate our fan base sometimes.

No one wanted to bench Trask out of dislike. They wanted Jones in to counter the weather. He is a secondary weapon and no one in our fan base is against Trask at all. Just seemed with the weather Jones could provide a unique advantage at times.

I really have to wonder about the psychosis behind our fan base. Trask has not had a bad game, even with the three fumbles against Auburn he was still about 85% of our offense. The offense doesn't work without him. People calling for Emory Jones have no idea what they're talking about. It's cute for one game, but after that it'll go back to how it was the entire time Trask was here:

Stack the box, dare us to throw.

With Trask it doesn't matter. Drop 8, he's going to eventually beat you. Blitz him? He's going to eventually get you. There is literally nothing that can stop this type of offense outside of drops and interceptions.

Trask had 4 passing touchdowns (more than Franks had in his entire career in a single Division I game)on the road (again) and has never looked as bad as Franks.

Now these same fricking goofs who always told me to email Mullen, the same guys who said "trust the plan" and "it's all under control" are now the guys calling for Emory after every incompletion. After bitching and moaning about me when Franks was laying eggs all over the field.

Eh, I dunno. 4 turnovers vs Auburn was pretty fkn bad. Our defense and a DL falling down on his own saved us.

Experts have pretty much concluded that those fumbles aren't his fault. Almost all of them were blind sides, nothing he could do to stop it from happening (up to and including sliding in the pocket). Similarly, he has clearly learned since he hasn't had a fumble since.

I tried to tell you: Context matters.

This wasn't a routine RPO like what happened against Miami in the Red Zone. These were: He was in the throwing motion and his arm got batted.

He also has cleaned up a lot of his messy throws and started to move outside of the pocket a lot more. There isn't a single game where I said to myself: frick, Trask, you're playing like shite.

^ ^ ^

If you've had that thought then you are very reactionary.

Uh, wut? Is this a thing now?

You hold the ball as a QB,RB or WR it doesn't matter. Its your job not to let the defender take it from you

Straws the fumbles not his fault you really are drinking that Mexican water.

As any player if you get hit and fumble that is on you.

Fumbles not on him Straws are you going into trask's room at night and milking him dry.

Everyone in here said he held the ball too long / trusted the OL too much ect.

I'm not attacking the guy, but to gloss over his early fumble issues is just foolish. Yes he has cleaned it up and is playing well but it is what it is, he gets hit and you hold your breath

If it had been Franks I think all of us know he would be blasting the kid. That's Straws being Straws.

He killed me with the whole picks Franks threw were all being bad but the ones Trask threw were ok. Now he cones with this bs of fumbles not being his fault when he whined over every turnover Franks had.

Its beyond sad at this point. All you can do is shake your head. Trask is doing very well, but stop acting like he doesnt have his bad moments also.

Difference between Franks and Trask is that Franks had 2 going on 3 years as a starter. Trask had basically no experience going into this year. Also pocket presence is something you can only learn in a real game because they don’t get hit in practice.

Franks was thrown out there last year as the starter while the whole team was learning the new scheme. Yet He never got a pass for that so..

I think Trask is to blame for 2 of the turnovers. The other two he literally got rocked basically when the ball was snapped hard to place that on him.

But here's the thing...he stopped fumbling. Kid is adapting fairly quickly. I mean I was supportive of Franks, but my confidence in the offense with Trask is easily substantially higher. He is just a better passer and it's not hard to see.

I still think Jones is the future though. But Trask is a better option than even a healthy Franks. Next year I think it's time to move into the Emory era. I think our offense can become elite once we have a mobile QB that can pass too like Jones. Though it seems he is still not quite there yet so Trask is clearly the best option for this season.

Head scratcher here? If Trask finishes the year as well as he has played and returns, why the heck would you not play him next year? Screw the future, play for the present.

We have the best passing Quarterback since Leak, perhaps even Rex (Leak never threw for 300 yards vs. AUB, BAMA, UGA or LSU and Trask did in his first start on the road) and people basically want to jump the gun.

I want to start a Mullen system QB as much as anyone, but once Trask gets experience he will be unstoppable. He's already shown things that you really like in a QB.

He learns: Zero fumbles since the Auburn game. Protected the ball as best he could in the monsoon and seems to have learned how to navigate the pocket much better. This hasn't taken years (Franks), this has taken literally one week since the problem was fixed vs. LSU.

Trask should be the Quarterback next year and our run game should be improved. If Emory wants to start and transfers, let him. We'll have Anthony Richardson and Carlos Del Rio (year after) coming in. Trask is too much of a downfield threat to let go.

Did y'all read my post wrong? Let me simplify. Trask is playing too good to not start next year! It would be stupid to start Jones for the future as gbait2008 posted. Jones may or may not be the future but Trask is the present.
