We went after him last year. Think we push for him to transfer here?

I mean..Mullen with that level of talent is scary. The SEC would be on notice.

He’s been saturated in Mutt.

I don't necessarily think we can pass up on that type of skill -- and Mullen would make Fields a world-class, bonafide, motherfrickin' superstar.

I don't blame Fields for choosing Georgia -- his parents were all fans, whole family, he was young, bought into the possibly valid hype.

No chance is he allowed to transfer to a divisional rival. None what so ever. They should be afraid of what he’d do to them in the future for the Gators and I think they are. He could stay SEC though.

With that talent, Mullen would be stupid not to go after him.

There is no way, even if we spurn Jalon/Emory, we can't afford to pass up an opportunity for a player who fits our team immediately.

As for the transfer stuff: He could transfer to a DII and come here, and I think the NCAA lifted transfer embargo.

quote:

... Starting Oct. 15, athletes will no longer have to ask for permission to transfer from their current schools and schools cannot block transfers or dictate where they go.

Either way, if I was a QB: I wouldn't mind getting an all-inclusive year to train with Dan Mullen in an offense that fits me like a glove.

Bigger, stronger, better passer.

Jalon is faster, a lot faster but Fields is mobile and accurate, very hard to get that.

Emory and Fields are in the same year, and I doubt any team in the country would say: I prefer to have Emory over Justin Fields.

With Jalon I'm a lot more optimistic. It's hard to find that kind of speed and size, but he needs to grow into it -- at least a year or two. Fields is probably more ready to play (if he has an off-season with Mullen) than either of them.

I agree with a lot of this but I feel like JJ is a better passer than Fields. Comparing HS tape, Fields was run first, pass second. Jalon is pass first, run second. Both looked equally accurate.

I think Mullen will gauge his interest but I am on the fence about Fields coming to UF. I like Jalon Jones a lot more than Justin Fields. Plus, that would be a crowded QB room, and Fields wants to play right now.

It’s tough when you have a kid like Jalon Jones who has been all Gator for a long time now. He’s a big time recruiter for us too. That kid is still growing too I think just by looking at him.

Never know what kind of baggage Fields might bring.

Jalon is a lot more mobile and simply put: A much better pure athlete.

To Daddyof4 (I think was the username): If I had to choose between the two, it'd be a really tough choice but I'd probably take Jalon. He's a freak athlete (DB/WR running speed), very intelligent and does a ton of things right at this moment.

But, the tough part is that Fields will yield us results now. Tomorrow. Yesterday. He is an immediate upgrade over what we have on campus right now and if I were Mullen I'd be pretty conflicted because Jalon will 100% transfer if we bring in Fields. He's shown that he wants to be QB1 and the ONLY QB worth thinking about, and I doubt he waits two years behind potentially Fields and Emory.

Although I think he'll easily dispatch Emory.

My thoughts exactly. The risk vs reward doesn't feel like it's enough to jeopardize our relationship with Jalon. And paraphrasing Coach's words, "I want players that want to be Florida Gaters."

I want to believe Fields gave up his ticket going to UGA. And, I want Jalon Jones at Uf more than I want Justin Fields at UF. JJ looks like the next standard for the QB position.

We shouldn’t be interested in Fields and he should be scared of the competition here. If Emory or Jalon take over the starting job next year and do good then Fields could be stuck as a backup again. I think Fields should go JUCO and then see what options are best or transfer to a average P5 school like WV , UCLA , Nebraska, or another B12 school.

Fields will not be back up to Emory or Jalon. Fields would start over any current QB on campus right now, period.

Emory is still at least a year behind (but could benefit from immediate playing time), Hotdogs is Hotdogs, Trask is Trask and Mullen doesn't start true freshman Quarterbacks ever for Jalon.

Fields would sit out a year, start his Jr. year, go to the NFL. No way with that much raw talent that Mullen could refine and turn over does he stay until his Sr. season.

If he is so talented then why can’t he beat out Fromm. I don’t think Mullen would start Fields over Jones if Jones started next year and had a great year. If we are only going to get Fields for a year then we are better off with Tate . Fields May have a lot of great raw talent but he has yet to prove anything in college. The guy is a backup to a QB that will be lucky to make an NFL roster . Either he is missing something like Franks and Driskell or Georgia has done a horrible job of coaching him. All he did was hand the ball off .

If Driskel is such a bad Quarterback, why is he in the NFL?

Scheme matters. If they were at Oklahoma or Ohio State, Fromm might not even see the field because of his lack of mobility. He (foolishly) committed to a school that did not run his offensive style.

Sorry, man. If Fields comes to Florida, he'll start over Emory. Fields is a monster QB who literally fits every single box to be checked for Mullen.

Big, more than a willing runner, very accurate and confident.

I never said Kirby was a brilliant dude, in fact, I'm the only one who's been saying that he's overrated since the very beginning.

He has no idea how to manage egos.
