Out of everyone’s excitement, I’m still cautiously optimistic…

It just seems too much of a Muschamp/McElwain hire. I don’t know why though. I feel like it’s Nape talking a big game about recruiting and wanting the right staff, but based on previous hires, it’s all talk. Can he get the job done? We really won’t know until next season.

Eh, I don't think so...Mac had one decent season at CSU and Boom was an assistant on a 5 win Texas team...I think Nape is the real deal, but I understand why some might have trepidation...He's gonna win you over though!

Once his staff gets announced and they hit the recruiting trail I'll be more excited.

Would hope he has already called Raymond at lsu to come be our DB coach

He’s going to have to put together a good staff and win me over. As of right now, he looks like the Mike Norvell of the Sun Belt.

Every hire is going to be a risk. That's the nature of the business. I do think Napier checks a ton of boxes though, and think there is an excitement around him that can generate a lot of early momentum which is always a good thing.

Besides the record, which I realize can be debated/negated depending on perspective, it's the pedigree...It's the stuff people say about him, it's the fact that he built something and more than anything to a lot of us, it's just that feeling we get from him that he just "gets it"...I wish you felt that way too, but I sincerely believe he's that dude and when he proves it, you'll come around.

I don’t see him leading us to a championship but I think he can get the program back to 10 wins + every year without tripping over his own dick like Mullen. We need a good coach now when the SEC is this down - I mean Arkansas is arguably the 4th best team in this conference and they are 8-4 and lost to the best team in the conference 37-0. This ain’t the SEC 10 years ago when 5 teams realistically competed for national titles every year. It’s pretty much Bama and UGA’s world right now. We need a very good coach now to build a foundation and perhaps have him either get to the point where he wins championships or we can bring the next guy in 5 years to get us back to Meyer/Steve levels. I like the hire.

Lol Don’t be pissy bc I was right the entire time and you have to eat crow now. I remember specifically you calling me an idiot for wanting Mullen gone a year ago after we went 8-4 lol like that’s a great record. You should spend more time analyzing our team instead of getting onto fans who just want us to be good again.

The biggest things are recruiting and organization. UF's biggest weakness as a program is the lack of an organized recruiting department. Billy will fix that and change the culture within the UAA about football. UL had a bigger recruiting dept than UF.

He is not going to let the UAA just say "that is the way we have always done it."

He has a lot of experience from working with Dabo and Saban. He put that in practice at UL.

He is a young coach with a lot of energy. He should be able to bring in a terrific staff. He had a lot of turn over at UL but was always able to replace them.

If the shoe fits? It is idiotic to fire coaches in the first 4 years of their contract because they are playing with the previous coaches players. Mullen took us to 3 New Years 6 bowl games and the end of last season started his downfall but he shouldn't have been fired at that time.
I agree that now is the time to make a change, but fans that call for a coaches head and use negative names like you do, don't help the situation. Be a fan! Pull for whomever is playing and coaching for the Gators. What will your new name be? Asking for a friend.

And I have probably forgotten more about football than you know, what part of the team would you like to analyze?

Oh wow now you do? Gee what makes you say that going 6-6 in a down East? Having one of the worst recruiting classes ever? Yeah, no shite you agree we need a change now, really going against the grain lol. I told you a year ago he’d never win shite here and I got crucified by it for being “negative.” This viewpoint of negativity is literally indicative of this soft arse culture we are in and embodies our fan base. The truth is harsh man — I said this guy would never win shite here and turns out I was right and I’m just “negative” lol. You should read Urban Meyer’s book “Above the Line” if you’re such a die hard gator. hes got a great line about accepting mediocrity that would fit perfectly with you lol.

But at that time you didn't know that. We had just had two 10 win seasons and started the year 8-1. And yet you were already sporting the "FireDanMullen" flag. So in the end you were right, print the tee-shirt but negativity is a cancer to the program.

Lol you literally came full circle about me not knowing and being right by the time you finished your post. I could break down for you (again) why Mullen was never going to win here but it would involve calling out his abilities as a coach and using negative (gasp!) terms and criticizing and it may be a little much for your sensitive ears so you might want to sit this one out so no one gets their feelings hurt lol. You should really read Meyer’s “Above the Line” if you’re a gator fan bc he shares the same sentiments I do on what it takes to be a great program and a part of that is calling yourself out and being hard on yourself or even negative (gasp!) critiques. Notice I never openly criticize our players whom I support - I call out the coach, you know, the LEADER of our program who is being paid millions to take us to championship levels. Sack up buddy life is not about participation trophies.
