How many guys did Swinney, Saban, Meyer, etc hire from their last schools?

Half of Meyer's staff was guys from Utah. It's really not surprising that Mullen would do the same given their experience in the SEC.

I've heard nothing but good things about about Larry Scott from guys around Florida, so we'll have to agree to disagree.

He brought 4 guys from Utah. He also took zero to OSU. Meyer goes outside the box, same as Saban and swinney. Mullen brought every single coach he worked with at MSU here except Sunseri and Warren. Seider was our only tie to the state and South Florida.

Seider left to coach RBs at PSU

OFFICIAL: HUGE pull by Coach Franklin and @PennStateFball to get former Gator RB coach JaJuan Seider. Strikes gold w/ one of the state of Florida’s best recruiters. Big loss for HC Mullen and #GatorNation

It’s only an issue if they are bad coaches, don't know why that fact in and of itself would be a negative. Mac brought only one or two guys from CSU, and we all know how that turned out. Mullen has been around the league for a long time, he knows as well as anyone what he needs to win here. Also, Meyer to OSU, Saban to Bama and Swinney weren’t head coaches leaving one program for another, so not really an apples to apples comparison. Typically a HC is going to bring assistants with him.

True but Mac worked with nord, Nuss, etc. I guess I'm still having nightmares of how bad that staff was. I think we're done getting kids from sfl and we'll focus more on central and northern FL more.

Trust me, I get it. It is hard to trust any coach after the last several years. Tough to stomach what has been done to this program.

The one thing that is certainly a vast improvement over the last coach is that Mullen has a plan. He and Scott had been in conversations and were prepared for the eventuality that Seider was leaving. Not like the last guy that inexplicably allowed vacancies to exist throughout the recruiting period.

Larry Scott is a big, big time hire. SEC background from Florida to boot (South Florida, to be exact). Mullen puttin' in that work.

'It's excellent. I will speak mostly to his recruiting ability as that is generally the most important aspect of a college TE coach. Frankly, I was braced for replacing Seider with a mediocre recruiter without South Florida connections and reassured with empty platitudes about trusting the system and "riding the Dan Van" and the importance of Dan bringing in "guys he has worked with before and can therefore trust." This is not one of those hires. This shows that Mullen recognized that losing Seider meant losing our most capable recruiter for areas south of the I-4 beltway, and the had the understanding that this hire needed to be a SoFla guy. I don't know if Scott is as much of a "closer" as Seider, but he is as connected as just about anyone in Florida recruiting, and was the best realistically available candidate IMO.'

IMO Mullen wanted Seider to stay for Early signing day, but leave after that. That is why he moved him to TE coach.

Eight of Florida's 10 assistant coaches have experience as an offensive or defensive coordinator/co-coordinator, and all have prior SEC experience (including LB coach Christian Robinson's GA experience at Georgia, Ole Miss and Miss St.). #Gators

While I liked Seider, a part of me is glad that we have essentially cleaned house from assistants on down to the support staff. The more you hear about the prior regime, the more dysfunctional it sounds. A clean break may be exactly what we need.

Seider was the only coach that was worth keeping. Oh well. He'll kill it at PSU with slade and I hope Knox does the same here

Compared to Seider as a coach and recruiter he's meh. We do have better recruiters overall so as a TE coach He's ok in my book. I just don't see any evidence he's the recruiter people claim he is.

Every single coach has SEC experience.

That is insanely important.

Scott has ties in Miami and Tampa. Both areas we need help in.

More importantly...we need to take back Lakeland and Jacksonville. I can settle getting some of Tampa. We can't let others take from those two areas though. Meyer locked them down, and I have heard Mullen wants to as well. Vital.

Definitely going to be a bigger focus again, and it should be.

Sec experience doesn't mean squat. Either You can coach and recruit regardless of where you've been or you can't. This isn't rocket science

They are all proven. Isn't rocket science I agree. So why are you crying like a school girl? Robinson is the only coach that isn't proven at a high level. Including literally AT UF.

He's also an ex-Linebacker from Georgia, and this is probably the biggest focus of Grantham as well so it's the best position to actually have Robinson at. We put together an excellent staff so far.
