So is Frank a much better athlete? Why was frank's the starter? You never said Trask was great just that he should be playing instead of Franks .
What kinda stats should we expect from Trask against Tennessee? Franks has done a decent job this year so Trask should have good stats against Tennessee. Right.

He's better, but I don't think his legs were ever going to win us a game. Same with Trask.

My guess: He had the team behind him, he was a headcase and Mullen knew benching him would just ruin him and of course -- he was the starter until he was either injured or played so terrible that the game was out of reach.
Mullen has been pretty consistent in: No matter how bad his starter plays, he will keep him in the game.

Thank you for admitting this, now if only the rest of the board would follow your lead.

I literally have no idea -- Trask hasn't started a game in ~7 years. Maybe he comes out and slings the ball all over the place, or maybe Mullen finally starts calling some fricking jet-sweeps and other creative plays so Trask doesn't have to win with his arm and we march them right off of the field.
I expect his first turnover against Tennessee, probably in the first quarter, and we'll have to gauge what happens from there.

He should. We'll see. As I've already said numerous times: Kid's going to be making his first start in the Swamp with everyone's expectations skyrocketing. It's a pressure cooker, and we'll just have to see how a lifetime backup handles it.

Right.
Your points aren't nearly as profound or poignant as you think they are.

He does them in key situations which I guess does make sense. Hide them till you need them. But I do agree I'd like to see more. Especially with our terrible Oline blocking right now we have to be very creative in the run game.

I get it to some extent, like with last Saturday but we have to do something, anything, to take the pressure off of the OL.
The worst thing is that we had these same conversations with Muschamp and McElwain.
Mullen has to scheme around the OL, period. Now he has a QB who at least looks like he understands what the defense is doing. People won't like it, but we may need to start throwing 30 - 40 times if our run blocking is inept + teams want to just stuff the run to force us to throw.
Really, though, not having Toney...there are really no other "Athletes" on the team outside of Copeland. That's the biggest surprise to me.
No matter how you slice it, this is going to be a rough year.

You have been saying Franks was the reason we couldn’t run the ball . What change to make you agree with us ? I do agree that we need to pass the ball more to open up the run but now it’s risky with Trask at QB.
What will it take for you to admit that you were wrong about Franks ? You wanted Trask to start over Franks and now that Trask is starting your making excuses. What’s it going to take for you to admit you were wrong the last 2 years?
If Trask can have better stats then Franks and the team finish the season 10-2 or better I will admit I am wrong. I thought we would be a 9-3 team with Franks but it looks like a 8-4 season now .

True.
quote:

Nothing changed, and I don't agree with you guys. I think having a viable passing attack can open up the run game and vice versa.
We simply need to do what fits us best at the moment.
quote:

It was infinitely riskier with Franks. Trask was throwing at a defense that knew we were going to throw to win for one entire quarter, Franks had the benefit of the defense not knowing which one we were going to do.
quote:
What will it take for you to admit that you were wrong about Franks ?
Now? Nothing. He had 5 turnovers vs. the two power five teams we faced. Three interceptions and two fumbles -- and yes, I put that fumble on him. He didn't step far enough into the pocket even after he acknowledged that the rush was coming and even so wound up to throw.
Trask just ate the sack and protected in the same situation.
quote:
You wanted Trask to start over Franks and now that Trask is starting your making excuses.
I still think Trask is better, nothing in what you quoted made me suggest otherwise. I'm just telling you guys to be objective and realize that Trask and Franks are not in the same situation and have different personalities.
Half of my hatred of Franks is his attitude.
quote:

If Trask plays way worse than Franks.
quote:
If Trask can have better stats then Franks and the team finish the season 10-2 or better I will admit I am wrong.
I think we can do that if we don't have tons of more injuries. We've had enough, but our three deep isn't strong enough.

Uhh, Franks would have lost us that Kentucky game. It's undeniable. The entire Rant thinks Trask saved us and I agree with them. Mostly everyone said that Trask looked better than Franks outside of what few outrageously stupid apologists that Franks has.

Why don't you just let it go? All real Gator fans are behind Trask now and will be happy if he looks better than Franks for the entire year, but don't want to hear about it from you! Just try being a fan and pulling for the orange and blue.

I mean, the guy asked me questions.
Do you prefer that I don't answer them? I think they're just as senseless as you do.

Mullen throws a wrinkle out there that both Emory and Trask could be on the field at the same time. Says how they adjust in game will be an important aspect.
Gonna be interesting :)

Mullen said #Gators QB Emory Jones is "much further along" right now than Tim Tebow was in 2006.

We will see both QBs on the field at the same time, but that's pure coach speak methinks.
Sophomore Tim Tebow, lol.

I mean we have athletes. Hammond, Grimes, and Swain can move with the ball. Not quite like Copeland though, which is why he needs to see the ball a lot more on designed plays. I get he may not block well, etc. But like Toney. Defense has to account for him if he is on the field, and if they don't, they pay.
Also...Pierce needs 10 more touches a game with how poorly Perine seems to be running. Think Pierce can get into the gaps quicker and make 4-6 yards on plays we get 2-3 yards on currently.
We shall see. I won't give up hope until needed. We are undefeated, our offense has played two good defenses and did decently. We have a lot to fix but so does the rest of our schedule sans Georgia and LSU(though their defense has some quesitons).
So we just got to get our shite right. Last year at this time we were thinking we are going 6-6 because we got beat down by UK at home. Good coaches adapt, change, and fix problems. Mullen is a good coach.

Redshirt Freshman = Sophomore.
If he wants to compare a redshirt to a true freshman then that's all nice.
There will likely never be another Tebow, who was just voted as the best college QB of all time. Not digging the coach speak.

My gameplan:
A lot of playaction fakes. I think we saw that with Trask who was pretty much doing a playaction almost every single pass he took.
A lot of jet-sweeps, fake sweeps and even a reverse.
^ ^ ^ This is a game plan for Georgia, LSU and maybe Auburn or whoever is the next strongest on our schedule.
I think we should be able to pretty much beat Tennessee at home (I hope). Pruitt's just not that good and I'm not sure his team is actually behind him for the moment.
Personnel:
Copeland has been injury heavy, too, but this is big boy football and we need someone to step up and move the ball. Pierce should probably be #1 based on what I've seen from Perine so far. He doesn't ever seem to break a tackle from the first guy -- vs. UT Martin or Kentucky, he seems to get hit and just go down.
Nothing like what he was last year at all. Pierce just runs a lot more heavy and angry, makes you work to bring him down.

If G-state and BYu can manhandle tenners o-line then it should look like the Miami game we should be in the backfield all night if not we dont deserve to win this game
I'll say it right now if the gators lose this game as bad as tenner is even if Mullen has to go to Nick Sproles Mullen is definitely not the right guy for this job

It doesn't matter who is our QB -- even if we're running Wildcat 100% of the game if we lose to Tennessee in the Swamp after they lost to an FCS Mullen needs to be let go and we need to go in an entirely new direction...
Like Mike Leach new direction.

What are you talking about...Mullen said Jones is ahead of Tebow when he used both Leak and Tebow..that was 06. Tebow was a freshman.
Posted on 9/16/19 at 7:51 pm to StrawsDrawnAtRandom
That seems a bit much. I mean I know I am hard on White but I at least gave him a few years before it. Mullen is in year two and did very well year 1. Dont think hot seat is on the table barring a 4 win season.
