He has thrown three balls into defenders arms too. Luckily no one can catch ??. Trask may be an improvement, but he isnt Tua. We are not going to take that leap forward we all want to see until we learn to block. Both Oline and TEs.

Mind you...we got better last year. It can happen. If it does, our offense will be very scary. Until then though, we will have issues. Tenn is a little better than people think but we should not have a close game I'd hope. Would like to see a comfortable lead so we can really go run heavy late and force the Oline to get push to wind the clock out.

I'm not saying he's fricking Tua, I'm saying that you can't just tune into him. And he really only had one play that would have been consequential and it was pretty high for the defender.

The other was on a two point play, so who cares?

At the end of the day, he doesn't need to be Tua.

But he has to be able to hit more than LOS passes and an occasional deep pass.

I'm sorry he's better than Franks (no I'm not), but this idea that he didn't directly influence the defense is really bizarre.

it is simply that Trask opens the field up because he can do something Franks cannot:

Hit people in the middle of the field with consistency.

Dude, both passers had around 70% completions and both avg’d around 14 yards per completion. Minus the forced int, Franks was also hitting plays downfield as well.
Trask played well, no doubt. But stop acting like he was the only one pitching it all over the yard and pushing the ball downfield

Trask doesnt make the bizarre crazy mistake play Franks does. He does however throw into weird windows at times.

Trask did very well. I hope it continues. But I just disagree we will be fine if we cant run the ball.

This is the SEC, you must have a ground game. Trask is better at the option stuff so that helps but we gotta get movement upfront

Yea. Seems we do not pull well either on either side. We can not get to the second level for shite. Which is why Pierce has to run more. Kid can get through that first hole before it breaks down quicker. As for long run plays that arent sweep type plays...we haven't seen any and dont know that we will. Our RBs have two guys on them right after the LOS almost every play if they weren't already hit n the backfield. Just rough sledding.

I have never been impressed when Emory is forced to pass.

Just look at the highlights.

3 Quarters with Franks:

2 passes completed over the middle.

1 Red Zone TD.

1 Quarter with Trask:

4 passes completed over the middle.

2 Red Zone TDs.

He simply played better, and that's that. He has more passes in his arsenal and forces the defense to play differently.

Franks 71 % comp
Trask 69 % comp

Franks 14.5 yards per completion
Trask 14

Again, minus the forced pick, both did well throwing it.
As long as theyre moving the ball, idgaf where they threw the ball, thats on the playcaller going by what he sees as open by the defense. Maybe Mullen doesnt trust Trask to hit the deep outside stuff so he called more crossing routes for him? Who knows? But with both having similar comp %s and ypc its safe to say each took what was there for them

Its Trasks time and Im behind him just like I was for Franks. But this whole narrative youre trying to push is false.

So what are you saying straws is we should just abandon the run game and be Washington state on offense and throw it 75 times a game

I doubt anyone thinks that. Its just difficult seeing your OL pillowfight the DL all night

I'm not saying Franks had a bad night.

I'm saying Trask hit a wider variety of passes in different parts of the field and keep the defense off-balance.

Franks played for 3 quarters and only had 48 yards more than Trask.

If that doesn't at least make you wonder: "frick, maybe Straws was right -- especially since he was in almost exclusively passing downs and the defense knew that we had to pass to win", then I don't know what we're arguing.

He played for one quarter and almost matched Franks. What else do you want me to say?

Just imagine how good he will be when he has all of his reps with the 1's.

Gotta admit we all but abandoned the run at that point as well .. like you said, one qtr and Franks only had 4 more attempts. Easy to see Mullen was trying to call more runs before Franks went down.

Im hopin we keep it rollin. Tenner shouldnt be a problem but we need the OL to stiffen up before Auburn, LSU ect

These are bullshite excuses lol. I'm sorry, man, but this is what happens whenever Trask goes in the game. Same with Missouri. The reason they're switching to that Zone is because Trask will have enough time and find the open receiver -- and he did.

If Trask is so great what should we expect from him against Tennessee.

Would you say the same thing about Frank if he had made those passes ? No you would be bashing him .

UT at The Swamp, I expect him to do pretty well vs the Vol Defense. Hopefully well enough so Emory can get his plays in here n there as well.

Where have I said Trask is great?

Trask is better than Franks as a pure passer. Period.

That's it.

That's all I'm saying.

If you disagree with that, we can break down the passes but I mean it's obvious even to the eye test.
