I would love 10 wins, but my realistic expectation is 8-4 with a bowl win.

Beat NMSU, ECU, and FAU.
Beat Kentucky and Vandy.

Find a way to win three out of seven against Tennessee, Ole Miss, UGA, LSU, FSU, South Carolina, and Missouri. That is not impossible.

My orange and blue glasses are fogging up....but I see Ole Miss and the girls school as Ws. We might start out losing to UK believe it or not up in Lexvegas...but then kick major azz the rest of the way. 10-2 is doable as well as 8-4, but with our defense and even slight improvement on offense, I think 10-2 is more likely...unless injury bug hits our OL.

I think some teams may target our OL honestly and I hope not. Big uglies over 300 lbs are injury prone just stepping onto the field and falling on each other during games is why so many wear braces.

The swing game on our schedule if we are going to be 10-2 is Mizzou. UT will come to the Swamp with a determination to stop our streak and we must match the intensity. Ole Miss looks like a team with issues galore and we take them down. LSU dont skeer me, UGA will be run oriented and our defense stops that and they are in deep doo doo, Vandy is Vandy, USCe will be tougher than last year. The girls school will lose 3 games this year.

We have more talent than people realize. Can't imagine our offense being worse than last year. OL is definitely a cause for concern, but you scheme around it to some extent. A lot of things have to go right for 10, but I think 8-9 is realistic for the regular season.

I just don't think we have the parts on offensive line for 10 wins. Mac had something like six players when he took the job, and while we are up to 20+ on the depth chart, there isn't a lot of experience, mostly just bodies.

OL isn't glamorous, but it is essential. You can have all the great skills players you want, but if the guys up front can't block, it won't matter.

If we win 8 this year and show some signs of life on offense, I'll be plenty happy.

I think you can get ten wins, but you just need to be special as a head coach. The O-Line is undoubtedly one of the most important parts, but you can definitely scheme around ONE bad part of the offense.

The problem we've had is:

There was no O-line, running backs didn't produce, WRs dropped everything, Tight Ends could catch when it was too late, QBs couldn't do anything, Offensive Coordinator wasn't very imaginative and the Head Coach didn't inspire a single damn person.

If we can get a few of those to work, our offense will work.

Receivers catch, QB's play well, coaching staff has their stuff together, running backs play decently -- the O-Line can be somewhat off their game.

All of that coming together may prove to be difficult, but not impossible.

I don't know Straws. I've always heard the saying a good oline can make an average QB look great but a bad oline can make a great QB look average.

I think the offensive line is not going to be as bad as people think. Our starting o-line can be formidable with LT Sharpe, LG Thurman, C Dillard, RG Halter, RT Ivey

Backups: Harkless, Dorsey, Desir-Jones, T Jordan, Fred Johnson, TJ McCoy, etc.

The starters and first couple of backups can be solid, barring too many injuries.

I think UF has a chance to be fine on the OL and if they manage to stay healthy, we could be dangerous. That all being said, I don't realistically see more than 8 or 9 wins.

The key is injuries and the OL is a difficult position to avoid them...no injuries or only 1 and we can manage our way.

We need Morrison to stay healthy also.

This is simply what this season is honestly.

UF can win every game on it's schedule. If looking at it one on one.

UF can't win every game on it's schedule in terms of big picture. Meaning this team is not good enough to go undefeated. It's unique and special in CFB, this team isn't good enough simple as that.

This team COULD lose 10 games on this schedule.

This team won't lose 10 games on the schedule, because they aren't that bad.

So basically....it's somewhere between 4-12 wins. Likely around 6-10 regular season, but honestly 10 is really the max. A brand new Qb, Oline, staff, lack of play makers. Sorry, but there are so few realistic scenarios in which this team can go 10+ wins this year. It's a first year with a new coach...let's not jump to 10+ win expectations or we most likely get very disappointed. We have serious flaws. Don't underestimate how new this line is, and how bad that is for us.

We have offensive staff in place to help us move the ball and score points. Its really the run game that I wonder about....will we run the ball well enough on 3rd and 2 ?? Will we run enough ??

Our defense can stop the run and help our offense by making teams punt often and providing turnovers and good field position. Special teams will be good and that's a key element that can win two games on your schedule...or lose two games if not executed well.

Bumping this just to remind some Gator fans what we though the season would look like before it started.
10-2, or better, still looks good to me, if we keep improving.
Go Gators.

I was right about offensive line not being too bad. Looks like 9-3 will be a little bit off.

I'm glad I was wrong about the W-L record!

Love it...just remember the naysayers all saying 8-4...frick that noise. But when you read one of two posts on this thread I said that Mizzou is the pivotal swing game to be 10-2...its also the swing game to be 11-1.

i thought we could be 9-3 regular season, 10-3 with a bowl win.

while i thought we would field a good team, i have to admit i didn't see us having much of a chance at an 11+ win season.

It's still early with a number of good teams still on the schedule, but clearly things look better now than they did 6 weeks ago!

Solid bump. Just remember we are a 4th and 14 conversion and a made 43 yard FG away from being 7-3 right now. But we made those plays and should celebrate our excellent record after the first 10 games.

Aesops is questionable and I wont call him non Gator...but a negative nellie.

I was posting all summer about our chances and really felt like 10-2 was doable...no worse than 9-3 or better than 11-1 for the year. Extremely hard to go undefeated in SEC or any conference...thats why I was smiling to myself when folks were proclaiming this team would do this or that...we had 12 teams undefeated 2 weeks ago and now there are 5 with one of them a non power 5 conference team. In two or three more weeks it will be zero or one, maybe two teams undefeated...thats just how college football works. Rare to see more than one undefeated team at the end of the year. Being in the top seven or eight with three weeks left in season is a kiss of death.

The Good:

10 wins in a rebuilding year
We found some play makers
We have miracle workers as coaches that can make chicken salad out of chicken shite
Help is on the way with solid recuiting

The Bad

We have road this pony as far as it will go. 10 wins is it. Saturday will be ugly as will be the Bowl game.
At this point, I would start a different QB in the SECCG. Could anyone else be any worse?

The Ugly

Treon Harris is the worse UF QB since Donald Douglas
This is the worse O-line as a unit in UF history
Austin Hardin should never kick another field goal

What say you now Mr Optimism? Remember we could be undefeated if Grier hadnt been suspended. I love these "retro" posts to remind us of August preseason thoughts.
