We definitely need to purge the UAA. We have a terrible fundraising apparatus. Gary needs to become "a" booster. He does not need to be "the" booster.
I have been posting about this on other sites, but you guys are going to have to hear me rant too.
I went to undergrad at Washington and Lee University. There is 1,600 students there. They have fundraising down to a science. Alumni get phone calls and emails all the time. They let us know what initiatives are going on at the school, what are money would be used on, and how much they would appreciate us helping the school achieve those goals. We have a 5 year reunion cycle, so most classes keep engaged and stay connected. Even if we aren't donating at that time, they do a great job of getting our opinion and making us feel heard. You can tell they care about the University and its mission.
I have two graduate degrees from UF and am a season ticket holder. I get no phone calls except when its my chance to renew. They never communicate opportunities to get involved. They don't ask for money (other than spam emails) much less make me feel valued and like my opinion matters. To be honest, they don't care one bit about me and it doesn't seem like they care about the school.
Obviously athletics is not a good way to compare the schools, but we can look at endowments to see how they are at fundraising overall. W&L, with 1,600 students, has a $2 billion dollar endowment. UF, with over 60,000 students, has an endowment of $2.4 billion dollars. A school with less than 3% of the of students has an endowment that is only 15% less in size. It's mind blowing.

They could do better but I do wonder if becoming as "nerdy" as a school as we have become has led to not having too many real big boosters as interested in football. I think we were on par with Bama and them from the 80s to early 2000s with that but not as much anymore. I think we are getting a Stanford like effect with the graduates where the alumni that become really wealthy are less inclined to be a big time football person.

You definitely could be right, but Ohio State and Michigan have been historically better than us at academics, and they still have their nerds donating. UNC and Duke are similar, but donate a ton to basketball. I think we just need to be good enough to get those nerds invested in the team.

Yep Ohio State definitely has motivated boosters. I would be curious to see who their biggest football and NIL boosters are. Do we even have any of our Billionaires into football much? Not sure if Condron is worth over a Billion or not but we dont have anyone wealthier than him that is into supporting sports that much. I guess we are lucky it just doesn't go by alumni wealth though or the Ivy League and them would buy all the good players.

Michigan and UVA are legit Ivy's posing as state schools. BuckNuts is an academic joke, they just act like they have the academic chops of the other B1G schools.

Back when it had a message board; Gatorsports was awesome. We used to have a rivalry with SwampGas. We would raid their sunshine pumping arse board and get banned and then they would try and take over our board and get cockslapped. And we wouldn’t ban them. The good ole days
I found TD when Gatorsports shut down its board and have been here ever since.
