This rebuild really won't be as bad as it looks from a record standpoint. This team was a decent team before the collapse and everything went to shite because the staff gave up and 33 players were out(which is absolutely absurd).

Add in the weakest position, QB, has two very good coaches helping them out in Johnson and Mullen.

UF could very easily post double digit wins next year. We've had insanely bad coaching, but even a year can change a lot in that regards. Players like Gardner, Cece, Polite, Ivey, Taylor all regressed. They have talent, but coaching never helped them grow. Especially TE's who shined for us, then collapsed because of coaching.

When you actually look at it...this isn't that bad of a team.

Qb - Question..but highly rated recruits here
RB - Loaded - Scarlett, Davis, Lemons, Pierce, Pern...five deep and should be one of the best backfields in the SEC
TE - Decent not great but Pitts could have immediate impact
OT - Taylor and Ivey are damn good if coached up well.
OG - Hagg is good rest are green
C - Ehh
WR - Absolutely loaded if Copeland and/or Watkins come. Best position on the team and I'd argue best WR group in the SEC.

DE - Loaded
DT - Needs help but Riles could be good. Big boy.
OLB - Lacking. Could move Polite back and Moon still has a lot of potential
MLB - Good, not great
CB - Two studs and Gardner will move back, guarantee it. He was a great corner terrible safety. So very good group
S - If our boy comes back, we will be okay here.

K - Freshman, but highly touted
P - Brother of the great one

Coaching staff - Better at every position, or equal at worst.

I could legit see 10 wins in the regular season with our schedule. I don't want to jump the gun on optimism, but with better coaching, this team would have beaten LSU and Aggies and the collapse wouldn't have happened. Don't see why it can't be done with better coaching and more experienced players this coming year. We aren't Tenn. We literally won the East two times in a row within the last three years. UF is a quick rebuild.

What games do you see as wins. That’s quite a lot of experience coming back.

It could be a quick rebuild if Mullen is as good as advertised and he can get a QB to run his offense smoothly this year . If Franks was a smoother runner then I would expect to win the east . He seems so clumsy when runs . He is the only guy with experience and the most talented besides the freshmen. I feel very confident that the offense will be better then it’s been in years.

I don’t know how many games we can win, but if we can win the east twice in a row and have an 11 win season like we’ve had in the past 7-8 years with a shite offense, imagine what we can do with a functional offense.

I think this coaching staff is an instant upgrade, but you always have to take into account that we will have a new offensive system and completely different defensive system being installed. Basically everyone is a freshman as far as learning the systems. Some are just older and have a lot of game experience which in itself is very important.

The offensive side should be easy if we go with either Trask or Jones -- both of them ran spread systems in college so I don't think it's asking too much for them.

The receivers will be the interesting part learning to block, but I think we won't be short of playmakers.

RBs will be better than fine.

TEs will be fun for the next few years.

I don't think on offense it'll be too crazy or different, but on defense who the frick knows. We could trot out a top 10 defense for all we know because we have no idea how well the players will actually adapt, but I get the anxiety especially after seeing how poorly we've performed the last few years.

The staff gives me a lot more hope, though, especially when comapred to other staffs of recently hired HCs.

True. You usually see the biggest gains from year one to year two.

i don’t see how you can look at these players outside of rb and get too excited. The defense can’t tackle. There isnt a qb. WR have done nothing outside of Cleveland and to a lesser extent Toney. They have no toughness and have to completely change systems in the off season.

Sure, if the coaches are amazing and everything that can go well actually goes well, then yes, 10 wins could happen. I’d be surprised tho.

Different scheme with a coach who has been coaching at a school with far less talent at every position on the field who has had success as an HC and brought in a pretty solid staff.

I'll be optimistic/hopeful until I see a reason not to be -- I already was with Corral because I was sure we'd miss on Jones, but here we are, with Jones.

I think we'll be pleasantly surprised in February and even moreso when we see the change in attitude, S&C and scheme in September.

Disagree..we have a talent and experience at OG..at center I'll give you that...McCoy was not overwhelming. The experience level on the OL gives me hope. We are finally upperclassmen loaded.

Guys will have to prove to the new staff that they should start. Jordan, F. Johnson are very experienced. We went through a lot of injuries last year that was never talked about. If our OL produces..then everything else is cake.

I’m hoping for some consistency from both sides of the ball. Coaches have to install the schemes and the players have to execute. I think the offense will be more productive. It can’t be much worse right? The defense should play better if only because the offense will have the ball longer.

To think we get to 10+ wins is wishful thinking but I won’t complain.

Georgia is a loss. Every other game we have a chance. Just because we don't have an incredibly tough schedule. South Carolina, LSU, Missouri, FSU all have question marks just like UF. Miss State will be tough as well.

We could easily go 8-4 too. Just saying if the coaching is better, we could see more than expected.

This is how I see it. UF was fine with one side of the ball doing nothing.

I think defense will be more of a rebuild than offense with the 3-4. We have the talent on offense somehow. The WR core if we land a few targets to go with the two transfers both expected to be eligible to play...that's a good core. Cleveland is proven, and Toney has shown his skills. Jefferson has also shown he can play in the SEC. It's young, but talented. Maybe best in SEC was too much lol

I think this is a 7-8 win team next year no matter who we play at QB. My hope is Florida takes their lumps with Jones and gets him the experience to be ready for year two.

Yep, unless Allen/Trask are actual wizards that we just never knew of.

I think Jones'll be ready, though.

I don't even want to see the other guys. If we are going to struggle year 1, let's do it getting the QB of the future reps.

Kind of my thought as well.

Jones is like Franks. Lot of natural talent but needs coaching. Franks didn't get it. Jones will.

Take the lumps and let him grow. So we can make our run in 2019-2020 years with him.

Oh Ok...I will be 73 in 2020....I want wins NOW damn it!

Honestly our defense will be better just from the experience gained by so many true frosh/underclassmen last year. The defense has had an anchor around its neck for years dragging the damn offense around....that should change some if and only if a QB like Franks (an improved one of course), Trask or Allen can start and play....letting Jones getting his snaps in situational series.

Just improving the special teams coverage and return teams could give us eight wins perhaps. We started out way way too often backed up inside our 20 yd line on most series. Just watch replays and you get sick at how often it happened.

Agree completely on all of that. I won't go into the season expecting anything really. It isn't fair to Mullen to expect immediate success.

I do think it will happen though. Just substantially better coaching, S&C, and development. This staff is substantially more proven than the previous one. Just very excited overall about the future.
