"August 1st dictates what the blue chip ratio for the class will be."

*Looks that the Blue Chip ratio almost doubled"

"On field results don't matter."

*Looks at Miami, FSU and Florida*

"Elite recruiting wins championships."

*Watches Clemson stomp the dogshit out of Alabama*

Elite recruiting does win championships.

Clemson does not process as many players as Bama so they dont have as many kids in their class per year.

That site is a pack of lies. It also had Byron Cowart as the 48th highest recruit of all time.

Elite recruiting does not equal what the opinion of some website. I think anyone who watched the playoff championships saw that Clemson had the better players.

Who has been better for the Gators? Zuniga and Polite or CeCe? Taylor or Ivey?

This is literally the entire point of this thread.

Elite coaching > Elite talent.

Good talent with an elite coach, two out of three times beats good coaching with elite talent.

This entire argument about August 1st, about needing top 3 classes, about on-field results basically meaning nothing -- it was just the stupid takes from, really, if we're being real: a casual fan.

It blew up in his face, and the first drum he beats is that we need to outrecruit Georgia and Alabama.

Meanwhile Clemson just completely tore Alabama a new one, Texas basically went down the field at will against Georgia and Florida crushed Michigan -- all three of these games were teams with lesser rankings completely outclassing "elite" recruiting teams.

I've been saying for years that Bama's unprecedented recruiting dominance had skewed the thinking of so many people. They are a historical outlier. What do you need to compete for titles throughout the rest of history?

1. A senior-laden team (we'll add NFL-ready juniors).

2. A really good coach.

3. Consistent recruiting in the top 10-15 and/or that perfectly fits your system (triple option, air raid teams).

It's like people totally forget that Washington and Michigan State both made the playoffs, while Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Washington State, etc have just missed the cut. fricking West Virginia almost won a BCS title and tore up some vastly more talented teams in bowls.

Yep. It was 2015. They squeaked by Ohio State in a monsoon or something, then lost to Bama 38-0.

But still, they made it. And we know Mullen coaching top 10 classes is gonna be a hell of a lot more talented than Dantonio and some B1G also-rans.
