The offense at least has some real good SEC games before this disaster. Did the offense save the defense from this in the Ole Miss game?

I never liked the hire. Why are we poaching coaches from Kentucky???

Defense is terrible. That being said, UF football is under construction. Flashes of greatness and then a steaming pile. This happened at Troy. I can share that at Troy, Rusty Whitt began 4am workouts and it helped.

It's year 1 of a rebuild. Today sucked, but we're way ahead of schedule. We just have to flush the players that don't fit the new culture.

I hope so but history says we will end up 4 - 5 in SEC play since we lost to Drinkwitz.

4 am workouts will probably cause a ton of transfers. Could you imagine waking up at 4am when you were in college? shite I am double the age, and if my alarm went off for a 4am workout I would break it day one.

Sumrall is definitely pissed looking at the press conference. I am sure a lot of players are going to be called out in addition to the whole team effort when they review this train wreck of a game.

Good. Napier would be smiling and making jokes.

Kentucky fans warned us about White’s quarter defense.

Posted this on another board….

Issues with our defense

Personnel
Rarely disguise
Low blitz rate
Static zone, lack of aggression

We play on our heels from start to end. This is a terrible mindset to create on that side of the ball.

Yep, the defensive play calling at the end of the first half was horrible. They had 29 seconds left on their own 26 and we played prevent defense. Instead of going into half down 7 we go down double digits.

Think part of the problem is that the secondary is so bad, we literally have to play prevent defense a ton.

Right now we have both a scheme problem and a player/DB coaching problem in the secondary, and unfortunately you're not fixing that.

They gotta patch it up to hold things together, and fix the problem in the offseason.

I agree with all this.

It is crazy seeing those plays with DBs like Flowers moving like they are wearing concrete cleats when the WR turns upfield. Not sure the defense they were playing but McClain seems to get lost a lot also.

Very true. But I'd rather get burned by blitzing at this point than rushing 3 and still not being able to cover

I'll answer the question to the start of this thread. Yes he will. This is not his players for his system. He needs the transfer portal. Now if it's the same thing next season, he's fired immediately after a game where the defense costed us a W.

The offense can hide the deficiencies on defense. But we can't make every game a shootout. Yesterday shows that if the offense is struggling, we have to rely on the defense to keep us in it in the 4th quarter.

No improvement or development week to week. Position coaches will not be the same next season if the struggles continue to the end of this season.

Overreaction. His defense is tough when he has the right players. Give it time.
