Maybe he is, or is becoming one

Defense definitely improving from 2020-23 years

Yes. I think Ron Roberts is definitely playing a part in the improvements as well. Plus the D-line coach got them looking fierce. Plus DB coach has improved tackling tremendously.

I kinda think Lagway has energized the defense as well. They think they actually have a shot to win games, or so it seems.

All around team effort.

Not sure exactly who to credit for the improvement. It may be the players themselves who got together and said let’s get our shite together.

Regardless I’m pleasantly pleased.

There's been so many injuries in the secondary this season, and I always expect the next one will be the straw that broke the camels back where it all falls apart. It only takes one clueless safety to make a defense terrible. Yet somehow they've moved guys around and held up in spite of those injuries.

I don't know how good the DC has been, but credit to the defense staff as a whole for having this many guys ready to play at this many positions and at this level.

We have a lot of talent on that side of the ball. Plus Banks is playing like a 1st round guy out of nowhere.

Mertz had his physical limitations, which hurt the offense because of what Billy wants to run.

But yes, O Hara largely has done a good job.

Pressure is on next year though. Young roster, superhuman talent at QB, vastly improving defense.

Everyones expectations should be 9 wins at a minimum.

considering how bad he was at Wisconsin he was pretty good here imo

Agreed, Im just pointing out while he played well here, the deep shots (lack of in terms of attempts and accuracy) hurt the offense, especially early this year.

Miami's DL coach and A&Ms players both basically said it was predictable.

Lagway's physical ability to push the ball down the field, sort of overcomes the playcalling limitations that Billy has to an extent.

Mertz 100% played much better here than he did at Wisconsin though - OHara deserves a lot of credit for that.
