We just have higher academic and overall athletic standards. Haha. But yeah, patience is needed.

Most of the dissent amongst gator fans is how much patience: 2, 3, 4, 5+ years? And how does the team look while being patient.

If Napier can't have a functional 8 win team in 2024 after having 2 bad seasons to start he is just a crappy head coach at this level. His game management so far is literally worse than most high school coaches.

That is exactly what I was thinking last night.

Norvell first 2 years at the team up north were not good.

But he had a plan and stuck to it.

If Napier in year 4 can have Florida looking like that. And that is his plans on how and what he wants Florida to be. Then I'm all in

Let's just hope that is the End game

Napier just needs be more active in the portal and use it to get better.

I honestly do not think he has used the portal well enough to this point. I don't think getting Mertz was a steal out of the portal. Getting Hartman obviously would have been a different story.

Hopefully we see improvement as the season goes along and can get to 7 wins I really think if that happens it would be for Napier showing Recruits that it's moving in the right direction and we want and need you to get us back to champion ship level

Yep we were slow to go after the top guys in the portal and think only got D linemen that will actually improve the team. The Baylor O lineman may be SEC caliber but George looks like he may more than cancel that out if he doesn't improve. Just hope we aren't such a wreck that no proven QB will come here for one season in 2024 as you can't count on a true freshman in the SEC - especially if you aren't like Bama level good.

It's Mcneese st.

I would think if 70,000 were there that would be amazing

Now if it's not a full house for Tenner. Then eyebrows will be raised a little.

If we somehow lost to TN and KY then starting the Vandy game I think the crowds could really be affected.

Could be it will be really affected

If they lose to Tenner and Tucky and are 2-3 going into the vandy game, if there is 50 thousand there, I'll be surprised.

I got my tickets for Saturday night; I haven't missed a home opener in years. I hope to see fewer mistakes, better offensive execution. Special teams have to improve.
Go Gators!

On a positive note watching these film breakdown videos our defense looked much improved defending the run. They did a pretty good job most of the game except for letting that package QB get a few big runs on us. They definitely held those good RBs in check and looked good on the line of scrimmage doing it. That first TD of theirs it was actually Mitchell that created that situation where Moten was late getting there to stop the TD from happening. Mitchell slipped against his man making Moten have to react to that guy running wide open even though his primary responsibility then was helping on the guy that caught the TD.

I was sitting in the last row of Rice-Eccles, so it was hard to really make detailed observations. Haven't watched any of the game film yet either.

I will say that I thought our open field tackling on defense looked vastly improved. I don't recall seeing guys whiffing, taking bad angles left and right, or being pushed off. They seemed to have better fundamentals than what we've seen. Still a long way to go, but I'll take it.

Yep one of the guys that breaks the tape down said the fundamentals were better and the LBs were better than last year with their gap responsibilities.

The lack of a solid pass rush put a lot of pressure on the d-backs. We have to find a way to make the opposing QB uncomfortable.

The defense overall looked better than what we've seen since 2019. Pretty content as long as it continues to improve.

That said, the d-line pass rush was disappointing. I thought they did a decent job containing Utah's run offense except that one drive at the end of the first half when Utah first put in their freshman qb.

With all the off season talk about the aggressive, blitz happy new DC, I expected more. Overall the defense was better but still has multiple issues in coverage and defensive line play.
