Being the eternal optimist.....11-1 is what I predict. Adding in depth on the DL was crucial...before that I was thinking 9-3 or even 8-4.

No clue. Hopefully better than last year, but that's going to depend on the defense I reckon.

So many questions about next years team, Who are the leaders? Will the defense improve? Is EJ the man or if not who? Will the O-line become a legit SEC line that will allow us to run the football? Special teams, punter and kicker?

With all of these uncertainties, I predict 12-0 because I will never accept defeat before the game is played!

Go Gators! 2021 SEC Champions.

I see the offense rushing for over 3k yards with two players going over 850 yds OR four players going over 600 yds on the ground this year. Additionally, I see Emory getting near 3,000 yds through the air, right around 3,500 yards combined and 35 total TDs, putting together a solid debut season as QB1.

I think the defense puts it together if for no other reason depth and athleticism are bountiful compared to last season.

These numbers aren’t that gaudy considering we get cupcakes from all 3 Florida schools (FAU, USF and FSU) as well as Samford.

Bold/Homer prediction - we split Bama and Georgia.

Realistically - we drop one that we shouldn’t (likely Georgia if we beat Bama lol).

10 - 2.

Drop Alabama pretty much for sure unless we are a completely different team next year.

Drop one of Georgia or LSU.

I feel we'll have closer games, but we'll end up winning a lot of them just by the nature of Mullen's offense and moving the ball. We have an incredible stable of running backs who are almost like receivers, shifty, strong, great hands.

A lot of times, a mobile Quarterback would have tore up some defenses we faced, and so I think our offense is going to be surprisingly good, even the OL might shock some people now that their scheme will have simplified.

On defense, I think we're still going to struggle. I think Grantham is thinking about retirement, or even just a change of scene -- I hope I'm wrong, but we have the tools on defense, this is a really talented defense.

So anyway, yep, 10 - 2, 11 - 3 post-season.

Straws, what do you think about our chances of landing a big fish like Walter Nolan? Or some of the other sugar plums still hanging as low fruit?

I've lost a lot of interest in recruiting because this is a lot more of a "trust the process" staff. Mullen took a very low 3-star (2-star by 247's own metrics), who didn't even fit his offense, and made him a Heisman finalist.

In the end, just keep winning, keep making it happen. I hope he's able to start bringing in a lot more talent, but in the end I definitely trust his internal grades at the moment.

The guy knows what he's doing.

Finch, bama has a soph QB named Bryce Young who has been in the system, but with only limited snaps. Like Emory, this is now his show and he should be adequate....but probably not a superstar this year...next year he should be better with a year's starting experience. Bama will have a very good defense, but no real experienced depth. Offense will take a step back. Our game will tell us a lot about the Gator QB and the offense. We will need to keep the ball and play field position....Bama lost a lot of talent on offense and the only notable WR is Metchie. OL lost some good ones and of course they have highly rated players who will now start....but 4 & 5 stars mean squat on the OL if they dont have many snaps under their belts.

This will be a battle in the trenches and I feel our offense will be better than theirs in our game and defense will be almost a push. 90,000 fans on top of you in the Swamp is a tall order... I honestly think Bama has three losses in them, UF, A&M and Awburn.

Win this game and then we have UT at home, UK up there and Vandy at home. Emory will be getting the buzz from the media and he has waited his turn...which is a good story to highlight with Trask having done the same. And has been stated by Straws, Mullen knows how to get the most production from his QB.

OK, I am going to assume in this prediction that UF stays relatively healthy. I think like most seasons, health will be really important, but it will be absolutely essential on the defensive line. If UF loses any starters inside on the DL, to injury, UF will be in big trouble, as we will already be relying on transfers at that position.

Let's consider the schedule

Sep 4 (Sat) Home Florida Atlantic
Sep 11 (Sat) Away South Florida
Sep 18 (Sat) Home Alabama
Sep 25 (Sat) Home Tennessee
Oct 2 (Sat) Away Kentucky
Oct 9 (Sat) Home Vanderbilt
Oct 16 (Sat) Away LSU
Oct 30 (Sat) Neutral Georgia
Nov 6 (Sat) Away South Carolina
Nov 13 (Sat) Home Samford
Nov 20 (Sat) Away Missouri
Nov 27 (Sat) Home Florida State

UF should be 5-1 heading into back-to-back games vs. LSU and Georgia that will really make or break the season. UF rarely wins on the road at LSU, and this looks like a championship type squad at Georgia. Unless Florida really improves on the LOS, I don't see UF winning either game.

South Carolina and Samford will help Florida rebound from those losses, so UF should be 7-3 heading into Missouri on the road, another place where UF has not played well and Mizzou should have a decent team this year. I think that game determines if this is a springboard year to a big year in 2022, or if a further dark cloud will linger over Gainesville heading into bowl season. Personally, I don't like the make up of this team and I think they drop that game.

They beat FSU to end the season, but end the reg season 8-4, and everyone is grumbling and we will need a big bowl win to have any momentum heading into 2022.

Slayer I would expect dark clouds and gloom from you..its a shame that you cant see sunlight.

First of all UF has more depth than last year my friend, be kind to yourself and look at the actual roster..we have a lot of beef on the DL: Gervon Dexter who got to play as a true frosh last year, Newkirk and Shelton transfers who are grown arse men shaving, Zach Carter a sr with multiple starts, Watson is big enough to eat OL for lunch, Humphries is now a soph with snaps, ditto Jalen Lee, add Lamar Goods a r/s frosh and Justus Boone a frosh. Injuries are part of the game. At LB we have a stud sr Ventrell Miller who is active, Diabate, Bogle, Chatfield, Hopper, Cox, Moon a sr stud, Wingo, Burney, and the number one JUCO Diwun Black. At DB we have All SEC cb Kaiir Elam, Trey Dean at safety, The number two rated cb Jason Marshall along with his team mate Corey Collier...a highly rated safety, Trevez Johnson a soph with snaps, Terrance Rashad a soph with snaps, Jordan Young another highly rated db, Jaydon Hill a jr, and a crapload of frosh.

The defense will surprise the naysayers.

I think the defense will have to "put up or shut up".

Offense is going to be much better than people realize. Sure, Emory hasn't shown anything yet, but at the end of the day: He has one of the best QB developers in the country and a full off-season.

Our offense will be legit this year. (Again.)

Defense was historical garbage last year. Only place to go is up. But how far up is unclear. Several lbs are tweeners. They have routinely sucked arse in coverage. Thee we dl was tissue paper and The dbs have been soft as baby shite and our safety play has been hilariously bad.

That isn’t all getting magically better in one off season.

The offense has to carry the team again, and I’m not sure if they can run the ball enough to do that.

Not to mention Mullen will probably pull some two qb bullshite again.

It’s as tough schedule in a transition year. 8-4 is my guess, 9-3 would not surprise. 10-2 is great and anything better is probably a hallucination
