When you're not paying players, it matters a lot more than anything else. Florida has prided itself on being a very clean school (one of the reasons Donovan left) and I doubt that will change.

Georgia recruited as well as they did last year specifically because they did well on the field. In May they were ranked 40th, there was a giant spike when recruits saw the product on the field and of course the favors.

We need to win, period. Selling a losing program doesn't work. We'll agree on three stars, but if you don't think our school doesn't need to put out a good product this year you're crazy.

Winning is very important. Putting a good product on the field is very important. A guy like Richt could pull in good classes because he was well established at UGA. Our offense has been floundering for years and we’ve been performing well be our standards. I think there is a lot of belief in what Mullen will do as seen by the quality guys looking at us, but there is a wait and see approach to confirm they’re optimism.

Lol at you thinking winning won’t matter for this coaching staff. Especially against our rivals.

7-5 would be no good for recruiting especially if offense is still bad and uf loses to FSU.

Most new staffs will get a pass for the first year. But after that you had better start putting some solid product on the field.

I'm one of the more demanding critics because Mullen is supposed to be a wizard with Quarterbacks, and with solid Quarterback Play over the last few years, our seasons look remarkably different.

He has almost an entire team with SEC experience, the entire defense got returning starters and even some very key backups that weren't available last year and the defensive line has talent all over it with experience.

If he can't do better than 7 wins this season, we're in the Dark Ages of Florida football. I have us at 9 with losses to MSU, Georgia and probably Missouri (I fear LSU and FSU way less with Taggart and Orgeron).

We can't have a mediocre product this year, period.

I'd flip Missouri for LSU or FSU since they're bringing in Dooley to be the OC. That's gonna be painful to watch.

I think Missouri is more of a 50/50 game because I think Lock can overcome terrible playcalling. LSU is kind of "meh" away from home and FSU has Taggart. I was doing some research and Taggart really has nothing to show for putting players in the NFL, nor really any success at the P5 schools he has coached at.

Kirby, even as an assistant, can at least say he put guys in the league.

Georgia, Mizzou and MSU are definitely my most feared games this upcoming season.

We play S Carolina, Mizzou an LSU all at home. Moo State on the road is tough with home crowd wanting to beat their ex HC.

10-2 is not out of the realm of possibilities. UGA is a possible win in my book. Color me optimistic....the schedule isn't a back breaker.

No matter who the QB is...we have 3 games to start the season that we can hopefully play some backups. With a 3-4 defense the LB position is a little easier, but even in the 4-3 we didn't use 3 LBs much except on goal lines or very short yardage...or a team like LSU & UGA who like to run a lot.

We need LBers recruited that are fast strong and can stop the run and cover RBs/TEs. Defense has o be a focus point since we will lose some really good ones soon.

Keeping in mind this is a recruiting thread:

10 - 2 regular season is very, very possible with some shocking results if we can either A. Get a QB transfer from Joey Burrow (it's different than our last transfers) or B. have surprisingly good QB play from Trask/Jones.

Mullen's not nearly as handicapped at the skill positions like he was at MSU -- we have 7 receivers on roster that are better rated than his best receiver at MSU last year. Three different running backs (Davis was seriously underrated) and the line has a bit more talent. We lost four guys on defense -- but only two of them actually played the entire year.

We have to get it done this year if we want any chance of coming back in recruiting rankings. Kids can't be sold on 7 - 8 win seasons.

If we go 8-4 and our losses looked like this; 34-31, 41-35, 30-28, and 38-31. You could sell that as an improved offense that needs a piece here and there and a defense that needs some more depth. If we are losing 20-17 and another 34-10 type of shitshow to FSU/UGA/LSU. We are gonna be in trouble.

Hell, we won’t know that until at least the first game. We’ll only get him for a season after that.

Meyer will definitively string him along. This is the perfect offseason fodder for recruiting websites.

Graduating means no restrictions on transferring. If he decides to transfer because it's not solid enough at OSU, then he would go to either Nebraska or UF. I think if he wants a chance at being an NFL QB, he'll come to UF (we also already got an OSU recruit and an OSU receiver).

I for one welcome our new OSU overlords.

According to 247Sports’ Bill Greene, Ohio State’s Joe Burrow is considering the grad transfer route. He’s currently in a battle for the starting QB job alongside former bluechip prospects Dwayne Haskins and Tate Martell. “I think it’s real. I think the fact that Joe is pretty forthright and honest when he’s asked about (it) — he could give the company line answer of ‘Oh, I’m staying here, this is my school’ — no, he’s not doing that,” Greene said on the Bucknuts Morning 5 podcast. “I know there’s a lot of Nebraska stuff out there between Joey, Nebraska, Scott Frost, and that could be very, very real; the school I heard yesterday, and it makes sense, is Florida.

Gimme dat sweeeeeeeeeeeet QB transfer.

Nebraska is a much harder team because it needs to be rebuilt and won't have nearly the amount of talent the receivers have at Florida. If he does transfer, for whatever reason, I'm almost positive he will go to Florida.

I still refuse to get excited about a guy who Hasn’t officially stated he’s transferring and also has never mentioned UF himself in an interview. It’s just people saying it’s logical for him to go here.

He wouldn't say what school or if he was transferring. However, that he's considering it can mean two things: He really is considering it, or he's just using it as leverage to get what he wants out of Ohio State.

He would start day 1 at Florida and he would have a brilliant supporting cast around him to get things done. So if he transfers, we'll be happy, if not, we'll still be happy. We don't have anyone on our roster who can put up numbers like him, but I feel like we have viable alternatives this year.

Mullen says UF not interested in grad transfer QB right now...

quote:

"Not right now we're not really looking at it," Mullen said. "I feel pretty good about the guys we have and the depth that we're creating at that position and the competition at that position."

in other words, he ain't coming.
