Key word being "right now". I think if he does decide to transfer and is interested in us at all then we would have to at least look at the possibility of adding him

Burrow just announced he’s transferring

Wanna bet? We'll take a hard look at him, and Mullen would answer that way even if we were considering.
I think Burrows to Florida is already in the works.

I bet if he comes to Florida. Jake Allen won’t be the only one transferring out.

It ain't gonna be pretty, because Jalon's coming in next year, too. I'm really happy, though, if we get Burrow. He'll give us at least a year to develop our other quarterbacks.

I don't know why, but I feel like we just aren't going to land Burrow. Can't put my finger on it.

I have that same feeling, almost like it would be too good to believe. I really hope Mullen isn't too cocky about his QB room to realize you gotta get Burrow if you can.

Whoa, that’s a 180 if I’ve ever seen one. Why the change of heart?

Mullen doesn't seem to be pursuing him. I think a big problem is that he made promises to Jalon and Emory Jones regarding the QB room. He made a pretty clear "no" during an interview.
I'll admit, I'm not enjoying the QB hunt right now. Burrow is worth more than both Jalon and Emory, and I'm still salty over Corral because I think Corral could do everything we needed from a QB but right away (unlike Emory).
I hope I'm wrong, but I just get this feeling that Mullen won't go after him like he should.

I told you that earlier today.

I thought it'd be stupid to not go for Burrow -- we run the same offense, we have tons of talent at WR, a senior RB backed by some serious talent and we just need a guy that can pass it a few yards.
I still like Trask if we don't land Burrow, but we don't lose anything from taking Burrow unless Mullen thinks Franks and Trask are hopeless.

Looks like Xavier Peters will not qualify. That would drop FSU's class below UF's 2018 class. Suck it Noles.

IMO, it's time to develop a QB that UF recruited as a Freshman. Our track record in getting these transfers hasn't been that good. I am not sure we won any more games with them than if we had played a player already on the roster. If Burrow couldn't start at OSU, what makes you think he would be that great here? Play one of the QBs we have and coach him up! Go Gators!
But again, I leave that decision up the coaching staff.

this
there's got to be more to the story. burrow seems kinda arrogant from some of the interviews i've seen when asked about transferring before he announced yesterday.

Generally I agree, but I do like going the transfer route during transition years. Give the new coach the opportunity to shape the roster to his liking.

You mean like Franks? I understand Mullen is different, but we really don't have the time to do what you guys think is right. Jones may surprise me, maybe Trask or Franks as well, but the problem is we just don't have a few years to really get back on track. We maybe have two, the majority of the fanbase might just give him one (like me).
Not because I'm too demanding, but there are just too many returning starters who are back in the fold to have a super mediocre year.
A Burrow type passer keeps McElwain or Muschamp at Florida. We don't know if he's not starting at OSU or if he just wants a job where he doesn't have to split reps. He is a very good QB.

I'm more worried that our OL gets gelled and we blast folks off the line of scrimmage than the QB position. The QB will be handing the ball off a lot and a solid run game will make passing a LOT easier....ala UGA last year.
We have to finish in the top 3 or 4 in SEC yards rushing avg to see much better results. I cant remember the last time we were rated that well...probably Tebow years. Avoid injury bug, fix the special teams and I think we will do fine. Remember, Mullen runs a LOT of screens, jailhouse breaks that we haven't seen in years. The QB will only have to throw quick short passes as a rule. The offense will be dull for some at times with the pounding...but mixed in will be entertaining offense.

Good playcalling and a decent quarterback can help out the offensive line immensely. Even last year, I saw that the OL could get their assignments correct (under Del Rio) and that they were in decent positions, an unnamed Quarterback just kept scrambling directly into the pressure.
I'm not nearly as worried about the OL as I am the QB position.
