This is when you know you are in too deep.
It's recruiting season baw, and I'm just following actual recruiters and those who sit behind the pay walls -- and Reddit. I don't waste too much time actually following these things.

Anyway, the recruiting board is crazy. No one really knows what we're going to end up with but it's a sprint to the finish.
1) Nicholas Petit-Frere (6’6 – 260) – 5 Star (FL) – 0.9963 Rating as OT
2) Jacob Copeland (6’0 – 192) – 4 Star (FL) – 0.9651 Rating as WR
3) Nesta Silvera (6’2 – 308) – 4 Star (FL) – 0.9730 Rating as DT
4) Andrew Chatfield (6’2 – 221) – 4 Star (FL) – 0.9180 Rating as DE/OLB
5) Noah Boykin (6’2 – 170) – 4 Star (DC) – 0.8916 Rating as DB
6) Caleb Johnson (6’3 – 245) – 3 Star (GA) – 0.8738 Rating as DE/OLB
7) Griffin McDowell (6'4 - 280) - 3 Star (GA) - 0.8342 Rating as OC
This is a prediction from another site, no idea how close we'll be to actually attaining it, but it'd be good enough to probably land us at #8 recruiting class.

Andrew Spivey ? @AndrewSpiveyGC 2h The common theme when talking to 2018 and 2019 prospects who have visited Florida recently is that the energy is back in the Swamp. Players are also believing that things are on the rise under Mullen and his staff.

Obviously the class that matters most right now is ‘18, but I’m not enjoying all the decomits from 19.
I’m no glass half empty dude, so I’m just assuming it’s the kids needing to get to know the staff. That said, I like the staff and I’m enjoying all the comments from current and prospective players about the direction of our program. Chomp it up fellas.

I have never taken a lot of stock in a commitment from a 17 year old more than a year out and with the coaching change i can see some exploring other options, but the ones that want to be Gators will recommit, others will join the class and the rest will be Gatorbait! Go Gators.

I don't have a whole lot of trust in the prior staff's ability to evaluate talent. I think we are seeing Mullen give the board another look. Some will come back, and we should have a great class in 2019.

Yep. Those kind of commitments rarely come to fruition just because they change a lot -- so too does the program. Some will come back, but others were probably told to move on or weren't reoffered. Mullen has a different plan and different promises, but I'm not worried about the 2019 class at all.

He cannot get in academically at Florida. Some credit is always the hangup with JuCO’s. Sucks because Jefferson really liked Florida when the new staff got here.

Decommits are coming to happen. Our current staff has a different offense and defense and different want for every position compared to the last. Some kids will not fit the mold. We kept a lot of the players we wanted this year, outside of Chase and Copeland all made sense. Chase left before the new staff, Copeland we are fighting for.
I think this staff has shown they can recruit so far. Let's see how they do closing. Lamar was basically an FSU lock and now UF is his favorite. Clearly we are doing well in visits now.

It was leaked that McDowell is coming to Florida -- but I had heard the same thing about Noah.

FSU visited Copeland. He looks thrilled.
No more Gator blanket, but there is an Alabama keychain.

5-star OT Nicholas Petit-Frere’s coach talks Florida visit, upcoming decision
By Zach Abolverdi SEC Country Staff
January 30, 2018
Join us here on SEC Country for a daily recap of the latest Florida recruiting news, tales from the trail and perspective on what it all means for the Gators.
Nicholas Petit-Frere enjoys Florida
The Florida Gators hosted six official visitors on campus last weekend, including 5-star offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere.
He is one of the top remaining targets for Florida coach Dan Mullen and offensive line coach John Hevesy, who serves as his primary recruiter and has made a strong impression on the in-state standout.
Petit-Frere attends Berkeley Prep in Tampa, Fla. His head coach, Dominick Ciao, has guided the Under Armour All-American through the recruiting process and will help him decide next week on National Signing Day, along with his mother.
The 6-foot-6, 272-pound lineman is not discussing his recruitment at this time, but Ciao spoke with SEC Country about Petit-Frere’s visit to Florida and his upcoming decision.
“He got back from Florida and told me he had a great time,” Ciao said. “He and his mom went up there and had a wonderful visit to Florida. They met some wonderful people and just had a first-class experience. Now he’s back home processing everything and that’s where we are right now.”
Petit-Frere will travel to Ohio State this weekend for his final official visit. He has previously taken trips to Notre Dame (Oct. 21), Michigan (Nov. 25) and Alabama (Jan. 19).
“There are things at these programs that he finds very intriguing and special,” Ciao said. “He’s looking to have a complete college experience, and every school has that. That’s the hard part of making this decision.
“He had a great time at Notre Dame. He had a great time at Michigan. He had a great time at Alabama. I mean, that’s really what he says. He’s got one more visit to go and he’s very excited about that.”
Heading into the final week, Ciao said Petit-Frere still has to figure out where he’s going and won’t decide on a school until he has taken everything into consideration from the recruiting process.
“He’s not sure what direction he’s leaning. He keeps it close to the vest,” Ciao said. “Very few guys I’ve coached made it through all five visits. He will do that. And when it’s time to decide, he’ll have all the information he needs. He’s about as thorough as they come.”
Petit-Frere is ranked the nation’s No. 1 offensive tackle and No. 7 overall recruit in the 247Sports Composite.
Dan Mullen visiting Caleb Johnson
Mullen was in Georgia on Monday visiting 2019 recruits, including 5-star wide receiver Jashawn Sheffield and 4-star athlete Jaylin Simpson, from Frederica Academy (Saint Simons Island, Ga.).
Mullen will stay in Georgia on Tuesday for an in-home visit with Caleb Johnson, one of Florida’s top remaining targets in the Class of 2018.
The 3-star defensive end from Northside High School (Columbus, Ga.) took an official visit to UF on Jan. 19 and the Gators are considered the team to beat in his recruitment. Johnson has also visited Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee.

Ohio St mods think his relationship to Schiano reels him in.

''No one knows what NPF is thinking.'' That pretty much sums it up. A lot of ''experts'' think he's coming to Florida, but I don't think anyone really ever knows. I hope he signs with us, signing the #1 OL for 2018 class would be pretty sweet.

Any idea? Talking about Noah?
quote:
Van Jefferson: with the news that Jefferson will not be accepted to UF, Copeland becomes a priority IMO. That said, UF has enough talent to overcome this and TBH, may open another ship for a more productive player in the long run.
OK: Let’s get serious. UF is at 13 and here is who you can add to the 13 IMO.
Griffin McDowell
Richard Gouraige
Nicholas Petit Frere
Justin Watkins
Jacob Copeland
Noah Boykin
Caleb Johnson
Dorian Gerald
Andrew Chatfield
Malcolm Lamar
Malik Langham
The last spot: is open at this time but I’m hearing they really want Glenn Beal. I know, 3 TE’s etc. But they like the kid a lot.
