How many passes did Trask throw in high school?

Now you are resorting to high school play...oh ok.

Whoever is the starter I sure hope we have quick hook if they shite the bed...another 4-7 or 5-7 is not acceptable. And I wouldnt lay the 4-7 season at Franks feet entirely. Did he suck a lot? Sure did. But it might be coaching, not ready for prime time...I dunno. But remember he did some things right also. 67yder with seconds on the clock to beat UT for one.

You mention over and over again about how the suspensions last year hurt us...and it did. We were down to around 58 scholarship players near the end of the season and mainly because of suspensions/injuries. Our special teams was awful in return blocking and in kick coverages.

I can predict this: if we gain 50-65 more yds rushing per game...we will be better than 8 wins.

Well I mean, Franks is doing the same dumb shite he did in high school and Trask is doing the same stuff he did in high school. Protect the ball, be accurate and run the ball.

Franks sucks because he really doesn't have the mental stability to be a quarterback. Having suspensions and injuries doesn't excuse running out of bounds for three yards when you could you know, just throw it away. Play actions to the wrong side of the field. Fumbling without contact. Having no spatial awareness, pocket presence.

He literally does not possess a single quality in a quarterback that you want when discussing the fundamentals. Footwork to arm motion, vision to adaptation.

Him doing something decent one game doesn't excuse the outrageously inexcusably bad play in the other games. Having more turnovers than touchdowns is just not going to cut it, and the way he responded was not what you wanted to hear from a player.

We need one thing from our QB: Good decisions, ability to make quick reads and protect the ball.

None of those are something that makes me think ''Franks''.

Hey straws you forgot to add one thing about what Trask did in high school ride the pine.

There is a lot of time between now and September. I think we will all agree that Mullen is much more of a quarterback whisperer then Mac & miss.

Whomever runs out there to take the first snap whether it's Franks,Allen,or Trask.then that is the guy we need to get behind I honestly think Frank's will be the guy the talent is there for him to be successful if Mullen can get what happened last season out of his head.

All we need to see is if Franks decision making on the field when a play breaks down that really to me will be the difference maker

Trask rode the pine specifically because the offense wasn't created for him -- Mullen's offense is almost taylor made for a big, heavy quarterback who can take care of the ball.

I mean, Franks would have rode the pine if any other quarterbacks were healthy and eventually did, including a transfer who wasn't built for the offense so saying someone rode the pine isn't that big of an insult when Franks' only hope was that other guys got hurt.

Going to need to see a lot from Franks when he does see the field this year. Going from an F to every mental football quality to anything better than F is a start.

Scrimmage just wrapped up, Hearing Franks was something like 5-19 with a TD and 3 int’s.
Trask showed a little better something like 12-17 2 TD’s and a int.
Running game is going to be excellent.
Haven’t seen anything official just what I got from the writers at Gator Country.

We need to go get Burrows from Ohio State in my opinion.

I agree, we haven't had a lot of luck with Grad Transfers recently, but we need to have a better stop-gap option while Emory develops. I think Burrows could slay defenses with the talent we have at the skill positions. O-Line needs to step up big as well.

Franks doesn’t have it, Trask really doesn’t fit this scheme, Jones needs a redshirt, I don’t think we have a choice but to go get some help from somewhere. There has to be a QB that can run and be an average passer somewhere.

Franks hasn't learned a thing, man. Trask gets a pass because he had to sit out the entire last year and never started but holy frick those are bad bad numbers.

I saw that, and I was all happy that Frost was playing on the Scout Team and really involved with his players, then Mullen shows up and is like 10 times more involved, all over the field, hitting guys with pads and running with the players.

As a by the way, the Visitor's List is absolutely enormous. There's no way I would be able to track down everyone that's coming but there are dozens of players who will be here for the weekend.

One of the better Visitor's Lists that UF has had in a while. Especially if you also include this weekend as well.

Not one of the better, it is literally be the best in...I have no idea how long. They're almost all unofficial and a huge chunk of the IMG team is coming on campus with us, Miami and Michigan (FSU might get in late, but that they haven't confirmed yet is promising) then there's just a bunch of big time names coming in.

It's good to get them on campus and build these relationships, and not be afraid to show them how we're praciticing.

Also: Sorry, Finch. Not for Mobile.

VIP Scrimmage Notes: Offense turns it on again in 2nd half It was a closed scrimmage for the Florida football team, but lots of high school coaches were in town for the Coaches’ Football Clinic and lots of big time prospects as well. The weather wasn’t agreeable early on with rain coming and going, but as the scrimmage took shape, the skies cleared. The defense held the upper-hand in the first half, while the offense shined with the sun in the second. And the scrimmage ended with fireworks on the last play. This is all closed door, so I am limited in scope from what I can gather and none of this comes from my eyes. But I did collect a lot. We’ll start with injuries. The usual suspects were in there. Brett Heggie, who seems to be progressing well from major surgery, has missed the entire spring. The same goes for Keivonnis Davis and Malik Davis. They were all in the pit area as usual. The newcomer at the start of practice was Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. We don’t know what his injury is yet, but he was able to participate in some non-contact drills to start the day. Another note is that walk-on linebacker Brendan Ackerman tore his ACL Friday during a special teams drill and will miss the entire season. Adarius Lemons was hurt during special teams work early in practice. He did not return for the scrimmage and we do not know what the injury is Lemons was working with the first kickoff unit along with Van Jefferson as the first return guys. The punting early on was iffy, but as they progressed, Tommy Townsend is the one that stood out. Offense vs Defense As mentioned before the defense got the best of the offense early on. The first three drives netted two first downs on offense and no plays over 10-yards. Running back Lamical Perine and Iverson Clement netted a first down each after a couple of hard runs when they were in there. The fourth drive by the offense was Feleipe Franks with the first group where he started on the day and Jordan Scarlett getting his first work of the day on a day when he didn’t run very much. We saw that from the last scrimmage as well. Franks had a 12-yard run and a 10-yard run and a 17-yard pass early on in the drive. The offense stalled at the four yard line and linebacker Rayshad Jackson came from the edge to tackle Van Jefferson for a five yard loss and the offense had to settle for a field goal. After getting a first down in the fifth drive, it was Trask’s turn with the first group and Perine at running back. After a couple of hard earned first downs, Trask audibled to a quarterback run for what would have been a 35-yard touchdown. Mullen wanted the drive to continue so ball placed at 25 and first down. A tough drop may have scored again from a ball that was thrown to the five. On third down a bootleg and pass to C’yontai Lewis was just a little bit too far to get. A 39-yard FG ensued, but Trask deserved the TD. A holding call on offensive line and sack by Antonneous were the lowlights and highlights of the next drive, which featured Franks with the second group. Franks returned with the first group and threw the first real down-field pas albeit incomplete to the end zone. CeCe Jefferson got a pressure in this drive and forced a throw incomplete. Jabari Zuniga finished it off for the defense splitting Tyler Jordan and Martez Ivey on the left side for a sack. It was nothing doing with Emory Jones working with the second group in the next drive. It ended with guard Chris Bleich giving up a sack to Luke Ancrum to end the series. Jones got work with the third group in next drive and hit Rick Wells for evidently another diving reception,, this one for 30 yards, Wells would get up limping but return and missed a jump ball he should have caught and the third group moved into scoring position but had to settle for a field goal try that goes wide right. Another ride with the second group would be the last drive before half time. With Trask at quarterback, Dameon Pierce ripped off a couple of nice runs. Kavaris Harkless would give up a sack to Tanner Rowell which would end the drive. Like last week it was a different mindset for the offense after halftime. Franks led the second offense to start with Iverson Clement at running back. Clement had a 15-yard run early in the drive. Franks hit Kadarius Toney for a 17 yard gain. Van Jefferson dropped the ball off of his fingertips, but it was very wet out there. An 11-yard pass and a 23-yard pass got the ball to the 5-yard line. QB draw gets to the one before hitting Toney on a crosser for the touchdown. The defensive boys evidently got a little chippy when the offense finally scored. Trask got work with the first group along with Scarlett. He did connect with Jefferson for 15 yards, but the drive ended in about three plays when he threw into coverage and linebacker Ventrell miller picked it off. That was followed by a one-play drive from Franks who hit Trevon Grimes for a 40-yard touchdown. Franks got the first group, but it was the Jabari Zuniga show. The redshirt junior defensive end had back-to-back sacks from different sides of the line to halt the offense. The next drive was Trask with the second group and a couple of quarterback pressures and an errant throw from Trask ended that drive much like the last one. Franks struck again on the next time out with the first group. He opened things up from his own 5-yard line and hot Lewis for a 20 yard pass. A 25-yard shot to Hammond followed setting it up at the 35. Ivey and Jordan work well on a twist on the left side of the Oline, buying time for Franks to launch a long ball to Jefferson who scored from the 35 on a post route. The next two drives didn’t do much with Trask running the second group, then the first. The young guys on the OLine in Bleich and Banks gave up a sack that netted a long field goal try. Jachai Polite provided pressure getting by Ivey to force an errant pass in the next drive to end it. Jones would get a chance with the second offense, but fumble on the first play and the defense recovered in a scrum. Trask was in with first group for a successful drive next. Highlights included a 15-yard crosser to Jefferson. A scrambling throw for 23-yards to Hammond. Another 20-yard pass play to Toney. Toney again for 14-yards on a pass from Trask. Perine would get 9 yards on a third and 10, making it fourth and 1 at the 7. Trask ends the drive nicely with a touchdown on a crosser to Freddie Swain. That brings us to the final play of the scrimmage and Emory Jones working with the second group had his receiver run the wrong route. Brian Edwards was there to feed off of the mistake and run it back for a pick-6 for 70 yards.

Players of the Scrimmage QB: Bad start but go with Feleipe Franks who came on big late and threw for three touchdowns, ran for one, and no interceptions. RB: It was Iverson Clement’s best showing, but think Dameon Pierce had the best day. Scarlett didn’t go much and Lemons missed it all after getting hurt in special teams beforehand. WR: He didn’t score a touchdown, but Hammond seemed the most reliable and biggest target of the day. TE: C’yontai Lewis caught the most of the group. DL: It started out being CeCe Jefferson, but then Zuniga finished the day with at least three sacks. Tedarrell Slaton and Elijah Conliffe also played well according to a source. LB: Rayshad Jackson is my understanding, hats off to Miller with the INT. DB: have to give it to Edwards for the final play, but I heard Shawn Davis and Brad Stewart played really well.

OTHER NOTES: *I heard pass protection overall looked much better this go around than a week ago. *T.J. McCoy started the scrimmage at center with the first group, but Nick Buchanan got more work than McCoy with the first group. As mentioned above, Brett Heggie shadowed offensive drills at center before practice started. *Chris Bleich and Noah Banks worked a good deal with the second unit, but they both struggled. *Again without actually being there and seeing it for myself, it appears that the offense didn’t decide to open things up throwing the ball down the field much until after halftime. I don’t know why it would be unless to toughen up the Oline or beat on the Dline. But in both scrimmages, the offense performed well when they started to throw. Just an observation. **There were several instances that Mullen and other members of the staff showed their frustration, but that is hard again to gauge if it was more than usual because I couldn’t see it for myself.
