It's looking more and more likely that this bitch has her sites set on us. If y'all think we need one, I'll start one and update it as needed. If not, then we can discuss it whenever y'all feel like it here w/o regularly updating the thread.

It's either going to come close to SC/NC or roll north into open waters of the Atlantic. Hoping for the latter. Don't need another delay or anything like we've had the last two years.

Maybe by middle of next week when the 5 day projection starts to include the US.

It is supposed to be in the Bahamas next Friday if it stays true to the NHC path.

The thread on the OT is a good thread.

I really hope it misses us. My uncle was fortunate his house in Edisto wasn't completely destroyed back in October. If this thing gets to what it potentially can it'll be devestating.

We just bought a house, and it won't be finished until October. Hopefully there won't be a repeat of the last two years.

It's going to miss us by 800 miles.

My youngest daughter is in Palm Beach though ... her husband, grandkids and her are headed here tomorrow to stay while we're in Vegas until next week. Her husband spent much of their day today boarding-up their home. She said it's nuts down there already. Gas shortages, long lines everywhere, no bottled water. What a mess it's gonna be if it quails Cuba in the next 24 hrs and then moved across the Keys and smacks Miami. It'll be another Andrew type mess.

The models this morning showed an eastward trend. I still think we are a day or two out from really having a grasp on it, but it's definitely time to start thinking about it and a game plan.

Yep. The euro and GFS model have it hitting us. If it rides Florida all the way up, it should weaken it. If it rides the coast but the eye stays out over the gulf stream, we are well and truly fricked bc she will strengthen.

Personally I think Irma has a crush on Muschamp. She thought he was still in Florida and when she realized he wasn't, she yanked the wheel hard right and headed this way to find him.

ETA: The state of South Carolina has issued a state-wide state of emergency in anticipation of Irma's arrival.

I'm 190 miles from the coast in Spartanburg/Greenville and flat out, if it makes landfall anywhere along our coast lines, with the strength they're saying, it might damn near take out the state.

She's developed a massive double eyewall. What this means is that the winds may temporarily decrease but only bc the double eyewall uses some energy...but results in an expanded windfield and that is the last thing we need.

Also, the Hurricane Hunters just found a central pressure of 909mb which is basically unheard of and means this bitch is revving her motor and strengthening. Unfrickingbelievable.

909 is low, but I feel like there was a hurricane in recent memory that got to 898 or so. I could be imagining things, but for some reason that jumps out.

I believe there has been one with a pressure lower than her and I think maybe it was Allen?

I fear she is going to hit Southern Florida like a hammer. Hopefully the storm loses its power as it rolls up the East Coast but it looks like it could be a bad one.

Harvey, as much damage as it did, was basically a rain storm on super steroids. Irma looks like she could pack a very nasty punch.
