A huge part of being a successful qb is confidence. So you want to see a freshman play, even if his stats are the same as Bentleys, when it could destroy his confidence. Look at Bentley his confidence is out the window. If we are going to get a freshman some experience, and we are shooting ourselves in the foot by not doing it, it should be in small samples with plays called that he has practiced until perfected.

yes and what I'm saying is these kids are coming in with that as well.

These aren't 18-19 year old kids that have no clue what they are doing.

shite a true freshman came into the national title game trailing at half and lead a team to win it all.

And on the other side, you had a true freshman get forced into action in what the 2nd or 3rd game of the season and lead a team to an SEC title.

These are not your daddy's freshmen and sophomores anymore

ETA: that same true freshman who lead his team to an SEC title may lose his job to another true freshman

You can't cherry pick. How many freshman can come in and succeed in the SEC? 1 or 2 out of 250?

not at all its def much higher than that and why teams like Bama and Georgia are so good, they reload with elite talent.

And I'm talking about elite true freshmen though.
Not 2 and 3 star projects (although youve seen that happen too, Look at Benny Snell. 1091 yards and 13 tds as a true freshman)

I mean look at the end of the years SEC all freshman team, thats more than 1 or 2.

What I'm saying is, now days when ELITE talent comes in its not right to say "oh well he's just a freshman"
If you're an elite Talent, you should make an impact ASAP. No sitting behind a guy because you're "just a freshman"

See:
Jeffery
Gilmore
Lattimore
Clowney

Each of those guys were elite and came in and were huge contributors their freshman seasons.

Kids today are much better prepared and have so much more experience as freshmen vs what they had just 10-15 years ago. Camp circuits and 7v7 leagues have exploded and allow for nearly year round football. IBG is right...the freshmen today aren't our daddy/granddaddy freshmen. The good ones are ready to go day 1, especially in the skill positions.

Throw in Holloman too.
I think people forget him because He didn't have the NFL success the others had (well save Lattimore but he's a different beast)

None are quarterbacks. None had to be as ready between the ears as a qb. If you use like for like then you would have a point but that's yet to be done.

I think it was interesting that during Champs, press conference yesterday he said that per our offensive installation, we are at a bare minimum so far as the plays they feel comfortable running.

No real judgement, but it sounds like we are on page 1 of the playbook still.

Bentley did it for us.
Forced into the role and played pretty damn well.
He’s regressed greatly

I think Bentley and Taneyhill are the only two that have started as True-FR in my lifetime. Both had some success.

I can name a ton of others from other schools, maybe not "day one" starters, but starting and were good their freshman seasons.

ETA: Bentley hasn't taken a single snap at practice this week. Not one. Been in the treatment room most of the time.

In Florida's national title season although not the stater Tim Tebow had 5 Passing Tds, while rushing for 500 yards and 8 Tds.

Jalen Hurts as a true freshman; 2780 yards 23 Tds to go with 950 Yards Rushing and 13 TDS, and an SEC Title.

Deshaun Watson, Fromm, Stafford, Chris Leake, Peyton Manning off the top of my head.

Peyton Manning is def the best of all that and not even close considering he did it in a time when you normally did not play as a True Freshma

Case in point I’m trying to make. If Hilinski is actually the real deal next year, he’ll beat Bentley next year

This conflicts with what was said on the SEC teleconference today. Muschamp said that Bentley practiced yesterday and today and was expected to go this weekend.

Muschamp not showing his hand, keeping them guessing. I like it.

I listened to the call and thought he was referencing the defense when answering the question about making things simpler. Might have misunderstood.

All of those guys you mentioned had great talent around them. Still not the same.

That tells me that the really did chunk ropers playbook and started from scratch. Could be a reason as to why our offense is having issues.
