He and Boom can kiss my arse. The ONLY bright spot for him is Frank Martin, and that was something he didn’t want to do in hiring him. Outside of CFM the guy has been a pure failure as AD.

Good job ruining your legacy, asshat.

I don't think Tanner can be allowed to be part of any coaching search from here on.

He's got to go before thinking about Muschamp.

Plus a LOT of guys will probably be hitting the road after this year across the SEC. Is this really the time to do a coaching search?

You don't always get what you want regarding timing. But what's the point of replacing Muschamp with someone equally bad? Or maybe even worse?

What concerns me is how many positions may open up across the South. When we talk about coaching changes, usually someone just throws in the usual names.

But come on, say Dino Babers. Assuming he even wanted to leave Syracuse, he has no connections to our part of the country. Coaches tend to know each other, but what kind of staff could he put together that could recruit this area?

Whatever they do, they better hire someone who runs a system that has shown it can take guys who are not as good as the opponent, and occasionally beat them.

We usually finish top 30 or so in recruiting every year, but face it we are usually 7-12 in SEC recruiting. Tough neighborhood.

Matt Campbell, Soott Satterfield. Those are the kinds of guys we need to look at.

We may have trouble filling the job though. If you look FSU, LSU, Tennessee, all had problems filling their gigs last time they changed.

If you are the new hot noise, be honest. Would you rather go to Virginia Tech, make about the same money, and play that schedule?

Or come here, with Georgia, Florida, A&M, and Clemson, with a rotating possible LSU or Alabama on the schedule every year?

A major factor in why Bert was such a failure at Arkansas. He was a Midwest guy who hired other Midwest guys.

The end result of a bunch of Midwest guys trying to recruit the South is a talent deficit we are still trying to dig our way out of.

You don't keep a guy because you're scared you can't do any better. Failure to make a change is just the acceptance of failure.

I agree, Ray needs to be retired and hire a great AD who can start a HC search immediately, behind the scenes.

Ray needs to go though.

He didn't hire Martin or Staley.

We need to replace Curtis Frye and Mark Berson while we're at it.

I am so glad Hyman was able to sneak the Frank Martin hire in before leaving.

Yep and Ray was pissed about it because he wanted to keep his buddy Horn and "save money" in the process.

You and Rooster corrected me. I had forgotten this happened just before Ray was hired.

Pretty sure they’re the tennis/soccer coaches. Berson has been there since like 1979 and we haven’t been good at soccer since like 1994.

That question right there is how I know you're not a true Gamecock fan.

Curtis Frye is our track and field coach and while he had a good team last year, particularly women's track, it had been over a decade. He's past retirement age and track and field is an important sport, both sexes, in the SEC. Anyways, at the very least, we should bring in a full time men's coach and let Frye concentrate on women's.

Mark is our men's soccer coach and he has not fielded a relevant team in decades. He's been here forty years, is past his prime, has a helluva coaching tree he's built and we need to hire one of his young proteges to take over and maximize our potential in a sport that is destined to become a money maker in college within the next decade or so. Fastest growing sport in college sports despite what the SEC thinks when it comes to the men.

ETA: Yep Frye's son CJ played for us, OLine. I think he may be coaching HS somewhere?
