Huge game for us next weekend. Never thought I would post those words about going to Lexington ... but this is a HUGE game.

Kentucky looks pretty darn good.

How do we go about beating them?

Easy answer is score more ... balanced attack, run the fricking football, have some big plays through the air, put pressure on their offense, play lights-out special teams for our part.

Easier posted than done.

I was not.

Was here at the house getting things done after months of having been preoccupied with something else, an elderly family member.

Wife and I are headed to Vegas Tuesday night and into next week. Picked a bad year not to travel to Lexington I guess. Going to be interesting seeing how the weather plays out up there this year ... so many years it's turned cold as heck when we get there.

Conversely they are calling for record high temps while we are in Vegas ... 95°-100°, but it's a dry heat. lol

I'll be watching the game from our suite. It's supposed to have two side by side 70" TVs ... or so I've been promised.

Last year we were in Vegas for the Mizzou game and it worked out well for us. I hope we have a similar outcome this year.

BTW, y'all Kentucky fans keep saying this season sort of reminds y'all of 2007. Y'all do remember what happened in 2007, right?

We're going to have to limit Snell and hope your QB doesn't turn into a great passer overnight, although he is already serviceable. And we're going to have to establish our running game and be very physical.

I really like what Stoops has done in the trenches with your team. This should be a battle. They made that vaunted front four for MSU's DLine look average. I hope our DLine is up to the task. And I hope our OLine can open some holes for our RBs enough to open up the passing game for Bentley and our WRs.

This game really is big this year.

They are saying 2007 because they are young whippersnappers.

To young to remember Curci

Far too young to remember Bryant at UK

Biggest issue with UK is depth. Still early so I like their chances. End of the season will tell the tale if Stoops has gotten to 2 and 3 deep. People forget Pell and Spurrier real ability was having the 3rd stringer being an NFL talent.

2007

One of the rowdiest games at Williams-Brice I can remember. Thursday night game, both teams highly ranked, monsoon rain all day, the place exploded with Norwood's first TD and never quieted down the rest of the night.

Stop, or at least slow down their running game.

They are going to stack the box and dare us to throw. Our WR"s have to make them pay.

Yep .... normally I sit up in East Club but that night a coach gave me six tickets for east lower right behind the KY bench and I brough five contractor buddies of mine. We all brought army ponchos and it was raining ... Erin Andrews came over to us and asked if we were military and we said no, not anymore, and she flipoed her hair and walked away.

She was a smoke show .... wearing these skin tight black pants, looked like leather, and had a head of hair like a mane of corn silk. Absolutely beautiful woman, but what a bitch. Another guy I knew at the time, working the visitor's sideline as a facilitator, touched her arm to get her to turn around an ask her if she needed anything to drink like hot tea, or coffee or hot chocolate ... and she told him if he touched her again she would have him removed from the stadium by security.

Norwood had a huge night. So did we after the game. Partied all the way from Five Points to Chapin and then across the lake to the lakehouse ... was still partying when the sun came up.

gonna drop this in here since UK entered the T25 this week.

Carolina/Muschamp vs ranked opponents - by season

L #3 Georgia 2018 (H) - #24 USC

L #4 Pickens 2017 (H)
L #2 Georgia 2017 (A)

L #25 USF 2016 (N)
L #4 Pickens 2016 (A)
L #22 Florida 2016 (A)
W #18 Tennessee 2016 (H)
L #9 Texas A&M 2016 (H)

beating a #17 UK in Lexington would put an end to a couple of ugly trends, in the series as well as vs ranked teams.

Watched that one from my perch at Uncle Louie's.

May have called in sick that next day.

I was a Junior in HS and went to that game, stayed with my cousin in the fraternity house.

FUN NIGHT.

I was in my first year out of college and was working for Mark Hammond in the Secretary of State's Office. I left the office about 1 that day, went home to change, and out to tailgate. I remember it pouring buckets about an hour before kickoff, everyone was hammered and soaked, but the stadium was electric. We all went straight to Jake's after the game, and I am pretty sure I also skipped out on work the next day. We thought we had a damn good team after that one, only to fall flat a few weeks later.

ETA: I feel good about this weekend. If we can load the box and slow down Snell, I think we win. Force their QB to have to make some plays with his arm. We also can't have a 3 TO day like this past week. Imperative not to let their crowd get into it.

I tend to agree with that on both accounts. I think Kentucky is an average 7-8 win team, but I think Miss State is on their way to finishing 5th in the West.

I mean 5th in the west this year could also be a 7 or 8 win team too.

I could see them beat Florida.
Then Arky, Ole Miss and La Tech

That’s 7. And knowing LSU could see them pull an upset

Miss st oc is an idiot. Fitzgerald is not a drop back passer. Their strength is running the ball but they were determined that he was going to be manning that game.

My wife and I still hang out there. All of our Mets club meetings are there. I think my press pass has been hanging on the wall next to the dart boards for fifteen years now. Always amazes me that no one has ever stole that thing ... although I've been told they caught a couple of people who tried. Used to be my post game hangout.

I was special and had a PULL pass instead of a PRESS pass

I think the same, just like I also thought everyone overreacted after the UGA loss. This weekend will tell us a lot about our team this season.

We're really not that bad of a team, but combined with constantly shooting ourselves in the foot in the first half against UGA, then playing from so far behind in the second half while they were rolling, it was never going to be pretty. I'm not pulling the Dabo 5/10 times thing, because we are obviously behind UGA quite a bit, but I don't think they are 24 points better than us.
