Some news on Sonny Dykes:

I’m told Sonny Dykes’ negotiation on new deal w Cal is ongoing and Dykes leaving should not be assumed.

I'd put money on negotiations being over and Dykes for sure leaving if Joe Schad is "reporting" the opposite

I got it figured out, Tanner is playing small ball. Bunt here, stolen base there, give up sac fly, solo HR. In the end we win. Genius.

It looks like he's staying at UGA. But is there a connection to Muschamp?

I really think I could deal with it, especially if he could put together something half as good as his 2008 signees in '17.

From what I've read, Rocker is closer with Muschamp than Smart and y'all might not have DC in place for some time (if Pruitt goes to Bama.) Smart will be calling the shots on defense though, but there's still a chance a DC comes in who wants to bring 'his guys'. Rocker may be looking for some job security and a familiar face.

It's all a guessing game right now for both of us but there are a few positives the UGA offers. Mainly, he has family in Atlanta and he's only an hour away. And his recruiting area is metro Atlanta so he doesn't really have to travel much and gets to see his family quite often. But who the hell knows.

That's a solid benefit. Also helpful to him that Atlanta is a fricking huge territory to recruit and you can't walk down the street without bumping into a 4* prospect.

What would y'all think about this coaching staff hypothetical

HC - Boom

OC/WR - Major Applewhite (Houston)
QB- Bobby Bentley (Auburn)
RB - Larry Porter (UNC)
OL - Elliott
TE/Spec Team/Rec Coor - Beamer
DC- Trav Robinson
DL - Lawing
LB - Ellis Johnson
DB - Terrell Buckley

Beamer will not come back to SC if Muschamp is given the job, unless it's OC.

This coaching search is getting ridiculous. Just saw a FOX article mentioning Rich Rod will meet with us about the vacancy. That could be a solid offensive hire if he brought in the right DC.

I thought that last week, but from what I'v read now, I don't know if he'll be retained on va tech's staff and especially not in the same role.

Beamer and Smart are close personal friends. I don't see a scenario where Beamer doesn't go to UGA.

Much of the hype in getting Beamer back to SC was with the Smart possibility. He'd be in Columbia without a doubt if we had landed Smart. He has no connection to the Muschamp circle, unfortunately.

Beamer has been interviewing around. He'll find a role that he wants in a capacity that suits him elsewhere.

I think it's critical we retain Mangus, however. I really, really want McIlwain, and Mangus has pretty much been the only competent coach on our staff.

Herman is officially off the board. Just signed a new 5-year contract with Houston with some nice perks.
