It is a mess.
I just went on Facebook for just a minute and saw nothing but Richt and Muschamp on it. I wish Tanner wasn't in over his head, but he is. I hate it that his legacy will be tarnished but I think that will be what becomes of it.
If, for some ungodly reason he hires Muschamp, hopefully he won't hire Weis or one like him. I'll give boom credit, he knows defense but he really lacks when it comes to offense. That's apparent by looking at his short history at UF.
Maybe he learned from it? Maybe he knows what to look for from his recent past history? Hell, I dunno. It wasn't too long ago we kinda joked about him being our DC and being our HCIW, but now being our HC has become reality.
If that does become reality I hope he's ready this time.

It's all we can do.
Tanner is the only coach to bring us national titles. Staley may do it yet, but Tanner has hardware. He loves the school, and he's been a winner. Those things are laudable. But he's just incapable of being a big-time AD. Not everyone is capable of it.
Muschamp does fit better here than he did at UF, no doubt. And the expectations are lower. So there's that.
I hate talking myself into this.

What's this mess LSU is talking about with Chavis coming to SCAR as DC?
Heard some aTm ppl saying they'd heard the same thing.
WTF is going on in Cola?

It has to mean Tanner is in talks with someone, right?

Chavis is from Dillon and expressed some interest in the job last year.
The dots are there to connect so I imagine some jackass with an etch-a-sketch managed to and has reported it as "news"
Its ridiculous to think about coordinator and position coach positions while the head coaching job is still vacant. All of those depend on the who is hired as head coach

Is this The Will Muschamp sequel? I wouldn't mind having him as our coach, but I've heard this before. I think we already have a coach locked down. I think we've had one locked down for a while now. I think this hire will surprise a lot of people. I think Tanner and the search committee are doing their job and keeping it quiet.

Call me crazy but just hear me out on this. If uga has known for some time that they were letting Richt go doesn't that line up right about the time we started looking for coaches? Could it be possible that CMR was our fallback guy if herman or fuente didn't come through? I don't dislike the Richt hire looking at what options are left because if he accomplishes what he did at uga in Cola..... he would have a banner right beside HBC's.
That is at least as credible of a report as anything out right now.

I do not want Richt. He could not win big at UGA (think about that for a second) and would get completely out-coached in big games.
Yes, he would be consistent, but I would not like the hire at all. We need someone that can elevate us and improve on what Spurrier built here.

Well someone put the voodoo zombie juice on Bear Bryant or Vince Lombardi...... the options are fricking disappearing fast.

Yeah certainly seems that way. I want to just say frick it and stop paying attention because this search is just getting ridiculous, but I can't stop paying attention to my favorite team.
Just tell me who the coach is, damn!

Exactly why I was saying wtf is going on in Cola. Hear me out here as well...rooster told us all but 2 coaches were gone. I would say the two most likely retained would have to be Elliott and Mangus. What if Tanner IS hiring Elliott, Mangus stays on, and they're planning on trying to add Chavis as DC?
fricked up scenario but just as likely as anything the media is throwing out there.

If elliott was made hc and magnus was being retained then I would have figured the announcement would be made by now.

Question. How many of the schools looking are using the same search firm or how many coaches being mentioned have the same agent (sexton?). This seems like alot of opportunity for a few people to pull a bunch of strings.

Maybe it's contingent on other candidates not panning out. Maybe the decision was just made Sunday when rooster said they were having all but 2 coaches clean out their offices and Tanner is securing his safe place to hide at before making the announcement.
I have no clue wtf is going on up there. Why keep 2 coaches when you know damn good and well whoever you bring in is going to want their own staff more than likely? And why give those 2 coaches you did retain permission to "hit the recruiting trail" this past Sunday while the other coaches were cleaning out their offices?
None of this makes any sense. I'm becoming more and more inclined to agree with whoever it was that said they think it's possible that Tanner has had someone locked up for a while now and has just kept it quiet by some miracle.
But..then we have the report that Tanner&co. were in TX on Nov 22nd interviewing Chad Morris...which would mean we HAVEN'T hired anybody.
This shite is maddening. Someone else said they'd like to just not keep up with it except it is impossible to do since it is our school. I completely understand where he's coming from. Like a bad car wreck...you wanna look away but you just can't do it.

Holy shite...I was doing some research into your questions and came across this. It's basically a classified ad asking for an opponent for a team to play..never seen this before on a college insider web site:
Wowwwwww.....This was on The Scoop's website. Holy frick...at least we haven't sunk to this....yet.

I agree, I stay glued to forums looking for a clue I know will never come. If ray is still interviewing people it could be a smokescreen, all we know is that it there is no news out of Columbia and nothing but speculation anywhere, even rooster is in panic mode like the rest of us.
If ray said dec. 10 is when we will announce a coach then surely he wouldn't say that without having something locked up. I saw that date somewhere (don't remember where)

He said definitively by the second week in December as the latest date to make the announcement and as early as December 1st IIRC. Maybe the dates would have been dependent upon whoever he has lined up appearing in a conference championship bc he already knew who he was hiring?
LOL...Rooster said some of the "media" outlets scour these boards (this one included) looking for info to release. Watch all that we've speculated end up hitting twitter and FB by this evening.

It's going to be one end or the other nothing in the middle.
Good - HC is done deal and they are working on assistants. Dicussions with Chavis and Mushchamp. New coach may want GA and Elliot. OR
Bad - we are scrambling and flying all over the place to try and talk anybody perceived as slightly above average into the job. GA and Elliot are the fall back.

See..that's the thing about the whole Chad Morris interview thing that bothers me most..
The University supposedly chartered a flight so that those of us tracking the flights of the University owned planes wouldn't be tipped off as to where they were at when they flew to TX to meet with Morris.
That would definitely indicate your "bad" scenario is in full effect....or the story could have been "leaked" by the University as yet another smokescreen.

Thats funny, sounds like Savannah State a couple of years ago. They put together a marketing plan to get some money games. They listed out how the money would be spent, architectural dwgs, etc... It's kind of like showing the team that stomps them that they will spend their money wisely.
