I asked for access mainly for an upcoming trip to Myrtle Beach, but also to talk basketball.

Anyway...taking the women in my life to one of my timeshares over spring break...basically, my daughter, mother, aunt, her best friend, her niece and her child. Im the only man on the trip so I will be playing golf all day long, every day...or at least 18 every morning.

Any how...anything that is a can't miss? I have never been to Myrtle but decided on going this year just because its one of my time share spots Ive never hit up. My condo's are in North Myrtle at Shore Crest Villas.

So...any and all recommendations are happily welcome. Mainly, what are the best food spots? Best golf courses? Ive seen they have an aquarium of sorts. Is it any good? What else?

Thanks

My favorite course near North Myrtle is Thistle Golf Club near Calabash, NC. It's about a 20 minute drive, but it's great. My grandparents used to own a house in Cherry Grove, so I played it a good bit back when I was in high school and college, but haven't been up to that part of the coast in 5 or 6 years.

Not a fan of the Dirty Myrtle. I go to N Myrtle once a year for a state wide industry meeting, and the one thing I look forward to is surf and turf at Joe's Bar and Grill.

I've been looking at all the courses and reading the reviews. A lot of choices in the area.

This was the only time I would go there. It's still cooler. Most spring breakers go to the Deep South beaches. My hope is that it won't be too congested.

We will be in North Myrtle. I'll have to look into Joes. Thanks

There are a ton of courses down there. The courses at MB National, especially Kings North are good, and there's a Jack Nicklaus course off of hwy 9 that's good called Long Bay. Thistle is just my favorite, but like I said, it's been about 5 years or so since I've been to the area since my grandparents sold their house.

We typically go to the Litchfield/Pawleys area now, and there are some great courses down that way if you don't mind a longer drive.

If you're looking for a classic beach bar then Molly Darcy's at 17th and O.B. is the way to go. It's a great spot for lunch and it can be a lot of fun at night if you're into dancing, socializing, playing pool etc.

My family had a house a couple blocks from there so I've seen it evolve from a dive bar to great place to eat and have a good time. Of course you can always go to Main Street for a good time but Molly's is a good pick that tourists don't frequent as much.

Explain Dunbar Street. Just a tourist trap?

Also, what is Myrtle like during these weeks of Spring Break?

I was hoping most of the crowds go south to Florida. Is my assumption correct since the temps are still a bit on the cooler side?

A shite ton of high school and college kids from North Carolina unfortunately.

Dunbar street is in the middle of the hood, just stick close to the highways, you'll be gravy.

Pretty sure Dunbar, Flagg St, and Yaupon Drive are the notorious drug and prostitution spots in Myrtle Beach.

This guy gets it. I used to live on Dunbar. That's the street where they caught LT buying crack before the celebrity golf tournament

I am a native, so I'll give you some advice as far as food and bars:

1) Horry's Seafood - This is off Hwy 9 in Longs and is the best seafood spot in the county. Great for fried seafood.

2) Benny Rappa's - Great little Italian spot in the Crescent Beach area of NMB. Great meat selection.

3) Benito's - Great place for Brick Oven style pizza.

4) Steven's - Right beside NMB High School in Little River. Great spot for oysters and seafood.

5) Flynn's Irish Tavern - Great Irish pub on Main Street near Ocean Drive.

6) International Cafe - Awesome lunch spot right down from Flynn's on Main Street.

If I think of anything else I'll post it.

If you don't mind traveling 15-20 miles south:

It's pricey and you must have reservations, but, to me, it is the best on the Strand.

Steak - Clark's Seafood and Chop House in Little River.

Crab Legs - Every Calabash style buffet has all you can eat crab legs, but Original Benjamin's on Restaurant Row is my favorite.

Sushi - I don't know about this. Not a sushi guy.

Without clicking the link, I knew you had to be talking about Franks. That place is legit.

There are some great courses at Pawleys Island if you're willing to drive 20 minutes. My in laws have a place in Litchfield and it's far enough away from the trash in Dirty Myrtle. I've honestly never stayed in Myrtle, save North Myrtle. If you like fishing, Murrells Inlet has some great fishing spots (Spade, Red, etc), not to mention excellent restaurants. South Carolina coast can't be matched IMO, so you'll have a great time.
