I guess I should take everything said and expect the opposite. Did you get your oranges?

You have a valid point and I agree somewhat but I'm looking at the areas of concern and we really needed to upgrade talent with the LB and secondary and I don't see it happening. With Muschamp and Trob's reputation, with secondary players, I was not expecting missing on almost all the top players we were after and linebacker recruiting is wayyy off. Running back needs a top talent and we ended up with a kid that we stole from the service academy's. I'm sure Harris has potential but compare him to what the schools we play are recruiting. DL and OL along with QB we excelled but the positions we needed to upgrade we haven't hence this is why I'm being a little bitch this morning. My expectations are not meeting reality.

Year - Class Rank - 247 Average
2007 - 7 - 87.63
2008 - 35 - 84.41
2009 - 14 - 87.79
2010 - 34 - 84.12
2011 - 17 - 86.54
2012 - 15 - 88.55
2013 - 20 - 87.98
2014 - 19 - 88.87
2015 - 20 - 86.63
2016 - 25 - 86.02
2017 - 21 - 87.14
2018 - 18 - 88.97
2019 - 21 - 89.37 (class isn’t finished)

What this tells me is we are consistent with where we’ve always been. USC is not an easy sell, no matter how much we think it should be. What made that 11 win run possible we’re good evaluations and a few difference makers in each class. I think this class and 2018 were good examples of those. I just believe that when Muschamp gets the wins rolling, he won’t get complacent. He’ll use the momentum on the field off the field in recruiting.

ETA...I’m disappointed in our LB recruiting more than anything.

I agree with you on LB, we failed there on a massive scale, on paper. DBs I disagree. Can Smith is a stud who will play early, Dixon is likely a RS, but his film is really good and held some Top offers, I'm reserving judgement there till Feb with Robinson and sheffield holding off.

So what you're saying is we are doing about the same and haven't improved. I don't look at stars and class ranking. I could get 4 5 star wr and no OL and finish top 10. Its about recruiting, talented players, in the areas of need. We have a huge concern at linebacker and failed miserably at shoring that up. Running back and secondary are 2 other huge concerns on the team and do you think we have properly addressed those needs?

Jahmar Brown paperwork is in...was a bit puzzling to me since he and Vincent Murphy both got to St Thomas Aquinas and murphy was in very early.

Anderson's paperwork is in as well just announced by the media team

Bedford announces at 10 last I saw.

With the spread offense you need more than 2 cb playing. You need 4 to 5 quality db. Our depth is razor thin and we have, so far, filled that area of need with 1 high quality player and another player that is probably a couple of years from contributing. We were playing walkons at the end of the year due to depth and we only signed 2 so far. That is absolutely not improving a area of concern.

Good to hear on Anderson as I was a little worried about him. Also thank you for the updates. You're a 5 star poster in my book.

What I'm saying is that I'm not getting up in arms over a few kids going different directions. I'm just saying be a little more patient and realistic in our expectations. Our recruiting has improved on paper the last few years, but we won't know until 2-3 more if it really improved on field. SC historically has been a sub .500 team. We only crossed the .500 mark with Spurrier. Muschamp has had three winning seasons in his first three years, and this year we were just decimated with injuries on an already thin defense and piss poor offensive execution in the first half. We lost three games that I felt we should have won, some of that blame does fall on Muschamp, some of it just falls on the lack of talent and depth, and some of it falls on player execution, which again goes to talent and depth.

I'll reserve judgment on secondary because there are still a few targets remaining. If they all go somewhere else, yes it'll be a disappointment with only Smith and Dixon coming in. Agree on RB, but outside of Latt and MD, we haven't had a great RB in forever. Even with Latt, he was injured for half of the 3 seasons he played.

I understand where you're coming from but I'm tired of hearing " we have always been this way" and " we haven't been good in the past". While it's true I don't accept it as a reason for failure now. Accepting the same standards leads to the same results. You are probably right that I'm not being patient enough.

By the way we will get more secondary players besides the 2 we have but they wont be our top tier guys and will need a year or 2 before helping.

The problem is that recruiting throughout the rest of the SEC and among our main rivals is trending into the absurdity.

The fact that 4 teams we play next year are currently in the Top 5 in recruiting is downright ridiculous.

I have faith that Muschamp can bring in talent to make us competitive, but clearly the other staffs can as well. UF and UT are likely to finish ahead of us. I think it's clear the wins will be VERY hard to come by next season.

Until we get back to the 11 win seasons, we have to sell these kids on being a part of something special, like Spurrier's staff did. It's just hard to overcome when our main competitors are relentlessly trending upward.

Also on rb, this class was very top heavy and we never had a shot on any of them. Especially once the babyback bitch crouch decided to move to lb. 2020 is a deeper class and we are in on some top names, if we wiff again then yes I agree we need to take a step back and ask the tough questions there, so many dbs in each class it's impossible to accurately rank them all so I'll trust boom and trob there and wait to see where we end up there in Feb. LB there on zero excuse here. We had a ton of 4* guys early on super high and the staff never applied the pressure on them. I'm referring to guys like Kalen Deloach, Freshwater, and Pettway. However Boykin is going to be a stud, hoping brown who excels in coverage can be a Skai Moore type once he gets on campus, he is an early enrollee so he should be up to 220ish by the time August and September rolls around

Our secondary needs talented players that can provide quality depth now. Getting guys that are still a couple of years from contributing may help down the road but not now like we need.

Gipson, Dickerson, Roderick, and Harvey is likely to back as well will also have horn, muk, Charleston, Jamel Cook (socal xfer) all return, then add Cam, and possibly Jammie and/or sheffield...thats quality depth that can play...if the injury bullshite doesn't carry over

Quality wise this is a above average class for USC. We are improving in that aspect however the schools we play are recruiting at an even higher level . My concern is the areas of concern ,that in my opinion , that were not addressed. I know there is another signing day but this is the big one and most of our class will be signed today.

You have a valid point here Mike and I hated the injuries but it did allow alot of the youngsters some solid experience.

I just want to be able to throw a bunch of 5 star recruits in our rivals face. Is that too much to ask?

P.S. Isnt sheffield being recruited as a wr?
