So ... giving this some more thought. Is there some sort of possibility that we may sign some incredibly great, Alabama level, DLine talent with this class?

XT, KJ, Sandidge, Dorian Gerald ... among others? Like a snowball effect sort of thing? They are all talking, all making plans to make-up this incredibly highly rated class of DLinemen?

Let's say Sandidge and Gerald are solid ... let's hope. If they are do they have enough pull with XT to flip him? And then if the rumors are true that KJ's Dad may be coming to SC ... then ... I mean, am I reading this possibility right?

I cannot even fathom the possibility. If that happens then it would go down as one of the greatest finishes in history. Better than most because that kind of close woukd be no big deal to Bama or Georgia, OSU or even FSU in their heyday. But for us to pull that off it would be ... well, it would raise a lot of eyebrows. Already flipped Israel M., might flip JayCee Horn. Add those four above and ... well, I cannot even begin to imagine it really.

Not XT but Bryce Thompson out of Dutch Fork he has academic work to do but if not for those issues he'd be a high 4*

From what I understand, academically he is now good to go.

Oh no doubt that wasn't who the guy on twitter was talking about. It was just who we landed last night.

On Bryce Thompson, this guy can ball. He is a Jaylin Dickerson situation, but even more so. Wasn't rated as high as his ability would indicate because there were questions in the class room. Coaches at his HS were saying that if he were on the offensive side of the ball at the next level, he'd compete immediately with Shi Smith and that competition may not necessarily last very long. However, we are recruiting him as a defensive back and with the guys we got last cycle that didn't play this year, Dickerson and Jackson, and the guys we have/could get in this cycle, Horn, Thompson, Character,Gipson and Mukuamu, our DBs are looking like they may be catching up with the WRs depth wise.

I saw a Virginia Tech recruiter at Williams-Brice during the state championship. You couldn't miss that bright orange shirt. I assume they were looking at him.

I figured that grades have been issue because his offer sheet does not seem to line up with the high level of play he puts on the field.

Ahhhhhh, ok, thanks Mike. Yeah, I've known about him for awhile just wasn't sure what we were going to do with him. He's a helluva player who has had some off-field issues. I was told several weeks ago that he was ours but I forgot all about it because, at the time at least, it appeared there were goijg to be too many hurdles to overcome.

Kid is definitely talented though. Man amongst boys at times.

Well damn.

Interesting tweet...

As the recruiting world turns -- sounds like the #Gamecocks could get a leg up on Clemson and Bama for 5-star KJ Henry (Clemmons, N.C.) by hiring his father as a 10th assistant. His decision comes Dec. 20.

LINK

Common knowledge is that the only way we land Henry is if we hire his dad, which I've been supportive of. If he can adequately coach, recruit NC, and it gets us his 5* stud of a son, I don't see what the downside is to pulling the trigger and hiring him. It could even prove to be a difference-maker in getting Quavaris Crouch next year.

I'd prefer it if we didn't have to make moves like this, but frick it - Muschamp is working on a total rebuild and this would be a major boost.

If it is as easy as hiring his father, who is a coach, to be one of our coaches to get a top 10 player in the country and we don't then what are we doing? Playing the moral superiority card doesn't get wins on the field, and isn't that what we all are looking for? We aren't giving our time and money to the school so we can say "yeah, we're not very good, but at least we didn't do anything questionable."

If we indeed hire KJ Henry’s Dad as our RB’s coach would that mean that Bentley would switch to QB’s coach and/or OC?

He'd likely be hired on the defensive side of the ball.

Here's his resume.

1995-2000: Ohio University - Assistant Coach
1995-96 Receivers Coach
1997-2000 Outside Linebackers Coach

2001-2011: Wake Forest - Assistant Coach
2001 Outside Linebackers
2002-03 Secondary
2004-09 Defensive Ends
2010 Defensive Backs
2011 Special Teams Coordinator

2013-16: Catawba College - Assistant Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Defensive Backs

2017 Charlotte 49ers - Runningbacks Coach

Hell, I'd be fine with him being a ST coach. Coleman Hutzler has underachieved IMHO.

Our kicking game has.

Our return game hasn't been that bad.

Lol did you watch the same punt return group as I did? Awful. Some of those were bad breaks but Lammons needed some serious help back there.

Our kickoff return with Deebo was good, with anyone else it was below average.

Soooooooo...the rumors about flipping XT are back. Because of a cryptic tweet Lattimore sent out.

As far as I can tell it's just from XT saying "it is what it is at this point"

Seems like a bunch of wishful thinking over something that isn't football related

I must have missed that tweet. What did it contain? Wait, nevermind, I'll go look.

ETA: Are we talking about where Marcus retweeted a tweet from XT saying, "At this point, it is what it is."?

Lattimore started it this time. And of course it took .0000001 seconds for Gamecock fans to lose their shite over it.
