We might as well have a dedicated thread to the OC search. Last night Muschamp said nothing about Roper departing anytime soon which is to be expected. Why not go ahead and fire him and get your guy if your just gonna spill the beans at a bowl announcement preser? Rice is expected to have Roper in for the next round of interviews early this week and thus we could technically hear that he's out this week. It is even being reported that when Muschamp goes for his in home with Dakereon Joyner this week, that Roper will not be a part of that. BMac is the guy now rumored to be calling the plays for the bowl game. As of right now, every name that would be thrown out as potential OC is just speculation.

That presser is what I was talking about. Technically what Muschamp said was that his role within our program right now is OC and when asked if he will be calling the plays in the bowl game he said "sure". The only real definitive statement Muschamp made was that he didn't wanna talk about it.

That just comes off as typical coach-speak to me. Answering the question without really answering the question.
Muschamp won't come out and say Roper isn't the OC if he is still on staff. From what I've read, Muschamp doesn't want to openly fire Roper because they're still friends in the end, and that could hurt Roper's prospects.
If Rice hires Roper, then there's nothing to worry about. If they don't, I'd hope Muschamp relegates him to QB coach and focuses on bringing in someone new.

Just a message board rumor, but one of the Rice Boards is saying Roper will be offered this week.

The Rice board seems to think Roper is their guy. Interesting read if you have a few minutes. But, there was a private flight from CAE to HOU today as well. Maybe Christmas will come early.
