Thanks, problem with politics today is neither side is right and blaming the other side just allows them to shift the focus of picking the mainstream American's wallet clean. Prior to RR the Dems and Reps would still reach across the aisle when it came to actually doing something for the rank and file voters. RR let the money move from Main Street to Wall Street where they shipped it to India and China to shift American jobs there because they were cheaper. Good for a few at the top in enriching their fortunes but bad for the future of the USA.

Both parties should clean house until they get folks who actually represent them again. This is America and built by a middle class. Not some monarchy where the ruling elite dictated their will on the masses without regard for their actual well being.

Wow thats brutal. I was the opposite. 4-0 vs Clemson. Beat #1 Alabama Freshman year (first game I got a student ticket due to the system in place) you know the rest.

Then I graduated and everyone went to shite. Probably should go get my masters for the good of the program.

One thing that RR did, and his whole reputation is built off of, is he made us proud to be Americans again. The JC years ( side note Jimmy is a cousin of mine... distant) was a sad time in America. We were acting ashamed about being Americans. After RR became President we were able stick our chest out and say " you're damn right I'm an American. I became proud to be an American because of 2 people, after the JC years, RR and Charlie Daniels!

It may have been the backs of us middle class that built this country but it was the " elites" money that paid for it.

I worked with him in the early years of HfH and think he was the real McCoy for faith. Those that followed used faith to further their own personal gain. What RR did was to flip us to "hate & fear" over "community". While I agree there was a lot of chest puffing with RR I am not sure it was a good long term strategy for the future of the USA. I think the USA was the only country in the world that did not form with some built in bias of primogeniture.

Our country was built with the "rejects" of 2nd sons and daughters who could not inherit so came to a wild land and built something from just having to survive that world.

Fear is also a great tool for peace. Here is an example:

When a Navy warship is commissioned it then goes on tour to other countries to show off the new ship and to send the message of " this is what you will be dealing with if you cross us". A military show of force promotes peace in that aspect.
JC is honestly a true man of faith this I don't deny however, he was a very weak and poor President. Due to RR the United States image became one of power. Militarily and economically we became the one and only superpower. We saw the wall come down in Germany and the beginning of the end of the Soviet Union under RR regime. The United States had no equal. We should have never backed off of that.

I've always considered you to be above intelligent but my post you're commenting on must have gone over your head. You took that way out of context. I know you wouldn't be kissing CG she's a girl .

:kige:

Great respect for Nixon for getting both the Russians and the Chinese to the table in a single POTUS term. He and Carter were the Yin and Yang of US ability abroad. Nixon by show of force and Carter by example of good. Oddly, their common ground was "outsiders" to the DC beltway. Neither flourished as they were at odds with the majority outside that inner circle but probably both were more in touch with the actual citizens of the US.

Not sure I fully agree here. Just as an outsider he was weakened by those who were more interested in their own gain. History has written him in a bad slant because he did not yield to many who have made the problem worse in Washington since.

+ Carter (as the military man) advanced the Skunk Works that RR would later claim credit for, and was a key ingredient in getting Russia to give in.

+ Carter is the only US president to secure any real peace in the Middle East with the Camp David accord. Israel and Egypt stopped fighting.

+ Carters energy policy was well ahead of the curve (and cancelled by RR) so think where we would be today with 40 more years of replacing oil with alternative energy. In defense of both Nixon and Carter, the oil shocks they were saddled with and crippled both economies were mostly inherited from oil monopolies heavy handed tactics for at lest 100 years prior.

+ Carter left office and worked for non profits and not personal wealth gain. RR and every president since (both D & R) have used the POTUS as springboard to multi million dollar book deals and speaking engagements.

+ Carter's operation to free the hostages ended in the desert and exposed needed hardware upgrades but at least he had a plan. He did not make the backdoor deal RR did with the Contras in Central America that degraded US policy and respect since.

+ Carter was any early advocate of better health care for all Americans and honest enough to keep the insurance companies honest had it passed.

+ Carter was also the first president to establish the Department of Education.

++ Carter deregulated the beer industry while POTUS allowing home brewing and the rise of local microbreweries. This alone made him tops in my book as POTUS!

- Where I think he was flawed was wanting to pull out of Korea and his attempts to better Africa at a time when aggressive dictators there made little sense. While I think RR could attack at the right time in the 80' election I think the real death dagger came from his own party and those who wanted Kennedy (east coast establishment) than Carter (southern Dixiecrat) for nomination.

- While I put this in the negative category not sure how his deregulation of the Airline industry turned out. When 9/11 hit the airlines were already in deep financial trouble and the US used 9/11 to funnel hundreds of billions directly to the industry to save it while never really letting the US people know it. This would be repeated in banking and caused the collapse in 2008 in that industry. Perhaps if regulation was still in place this "too big to fail" and bailout mentality would have been held in check.

While most have great admiration for RR - and my cousin worked high up in his administration - he was more a "face" that was manipulated by the real power behind the throne. Much of what will destroy this country was sown in the seeds of the administration of RR. Both Nixon and Carter were smart enough to not let the genie out of the bottle of empowering the rise of the corporations no longer loyal to the USA if it meant cheaper labor in China.

As a Navy man you should be aware that nuclear sub operators are pretty smart cats and not your run of the mill guys living on their looks like RR.

The facts are this Conway. The discussion on CT was about Elcid/Freeman and I made a post that said he butted heads with CG and she was in the right and drug Freeman across the internet, you came out that CG had mental issues and then gave your story of y'all getting into it. So yes you did post it so be a man and own up to it. When I first ran into CG it went a little crazy but I accepted her as she was and we moved on. My advice is if you actually moved on , from that encounter, then don't bring it up anymore.
We are all part of Gamecock Nation after all. Heck if you post here more often you may win a Handmade Gold ring.

For one thing, I haven't denied that I posted about her on CT. Not for one minute. But what I posted was 100% truth, so anyone has a problem with it, needs to deal with it. Again, they do not have any right at all to attack me for no reason, and then get their vaginas raw over me telling others about it. There is a sure-fire way to keep such things from happening, and I won't say again what it is. And anyways, for as few posters that post in this forum, there sure have been a shite-ton of butthurt running over here and trashing everything over at CT, or trashing posters there (like Spurticus), who never does anything to warrant it, other than banning people who most likely did everything they were capable of to deserve it. So please refrain in the future from lecturing me on posting about things that happen here, over there.

Secondly, you mis-represent what the thread was about at CT. It was already posted here earlier in this thread that others were also posting how CG attacked them - it wasn't just the CG-Freeman issue. So I actually wasn't the first to post about it.

But yes. Again. I posted on Cockytalk how CarolinaGirl attacked me over something she had zero involvement in, for no reason, when she didn't even know who I was. And it is STILL 100% true. So you need to explain again to me what issue(s) you have with me posting truth. CG has lied trying to say she even apologized to me, but she didn't.

I have no issue with moving on, and in fact prefer to. But CG called me out on 3-4 threads that I was posting in last night, when I wasn't posting ANYTHING regarding her, and so you need to talk to the bitch about moving on, not me.

I was banned from SECr since last April for no reason that I can discern, and the attack CG made on me came a month or so after that banning. I didn't email or ask anyone in admin. here why I was banned until recently, and they didn't even give me an explanation, just responded saying that I can post again, and thanks. So I can post again here.

But I seriously doubt I will post much here anymore - I wasn't posting that much in the USC forum before I got banned - mostly posting in the Rant and other OT boards, and I expect that to continue, if not ramp up. Need any explanation why, just read this thread.....

to be fair I went to cockytalk to see what all the fuss was about, and SOS was the one to bring CG up in the first place... I think hes just trying to stir things up.

Everyone chill tf out.

Also one thing i will agree with is the calling out other gamecocks in the rant forum is ridiculous. It looks stupid on our fanbase as a whole. Lets not embarrass ourselves.

I agree 100% on the last point, which is why I chose to respond to her here in the USC forum, instead of doing it on the Rant. But I'd rather not have to respond at all, unless I keep getting called out left and right....
