If this were the military I would be by your side on your thinking and this is how I was raised to think also however, football has become a giant business and if he feels he needs to do this for his family then it's a business decision. I actually think its a smart move by him plus I have a feeling with Vann and Shi we won't miss him.

Agree to disagree...he quit on his teammates...its moot either way, I wish him the best but he is still a selfish quitter in my eyes

Unless you're in the locker room, how do you know they didn't tell him to go?

By your logic, he's being selfish by not playing and risking injury and potentially millions, because his absence might cause you some inconvenience if we happen to lose? Who's being selfish?

If he was so worried about injuries, maybe he should have skipped the Akron game too. Far more likely to have gotten hurt in that game given the field conditions. I'm not going to crucify the guy, I love Deebo and what he did for the school. At the same time, I'm very disappointed in this move. Either you're committed to the team or you aren't. People getting injured so badly in bowl games they can't play pro ball is so uncommonly rare we can actually remember the ones that happen. Let's also not pretend the school doesn't have an insurance policy for Deebo like they did for Lattimore and Clowney.

I remember the first time this happened with Kalimba Edwards and Lou Holtz told him to keep his arse at home and didn't let him go to the bowl game. Hate that Deebo is opening this Pandora's box back up for us. Once it starts happening, it normally gets worse. Still going to be a Deebo fan, but I don't like the precedent he is setting for the guys on the team now.

So you wouldve beeb okay with a company brother quitting on y'all end on the semester at the Citadel?

I love Deebo and what he's done here, but absolutely despise this decision.

I'm not Lonnie but I served in the Navy and what you're asking Lonnie to compare is apples and oranges. Im pretty sure if the cadet was leaving for a multi million dollar the other cadets would be fine with it ( or jealous).

I lost multiple classmate's 2nd semester Sr year there. Nature of the beast with that place.

Adults make adult decisions and pay the consequences.

Didn't know you are a Citadel grad Lonnie. Had a boatload of buddies graduate from there, served with a couple.

You're right, we have a serial downvoter in our midst. A first for this forum. It just started recently. We'll find out soon enough who it is.

As far as Deebo goes it's a decision best left to his family and him and to their reasons. He gave us a solid four years and he's been a classy Gamecock the entire way.

Nothing but respect for the guy ... plus he'll be graduating on the 17th. He's got nothing left to prove here. More power to him.

Mike, I understand what you are saying but times are a changin' brother. It is what it is. I hope it doesn't go viral within the program.

Deebo will always be a proud Gamecock.

SOS.
I haven’t said this to you much.
Agree with you whole heartedly

Everyone else;
Kid reminds me of a bigger Tarik Cohen. Guy is the perfect fit for the NFL.
He knows how to run, catch, return punts/kicks and hey throw a touch down pass.
I would love for him to go a team like New England LA or KC to win.
frick for my own viewing Jets or Giants . Or to my own love the panthers.
I truly think Deebo is going to be an amazing prob

It’s the Belk Bowl. I think he made the right choice for him and his family. Sure I would have rather seen him out there, but it’s a smart choice for him personally.

I'm late to the party. Yall are all sorts of wound up about this.

Mike- I cant disagree with you more. Hes been injured so much and sacrificed and fought so hard for our team for years. If he doesnt wanna play against a shitty virginia team in the belk bowl to blow his chance at MILLIONS then I can't blame him

Ill always refer to Deebo as one of my favorite and one of the best receivers we've had. I'm glad hes helped Muschamp in the rebuild and wish him the best.

Also one person seems to love to down vote me. I have feelings ya know

Cant wait to watch Deebo on Sundays

Im pretty positive i know who it is, all good.

Also, I'm guessing Bryan Edwards stays. I think he knows how much he can rise with no Deebo here. But it does all seem to come down to the bowl game and how he performs without him when our offense has picked up drastically

I can't stand people that want to down vote and never say a word. If I don't like what you have to say I'm coming straight to you and posting the reason. Down voting is pretty childish.

2018 SEC ranks for Deebo in his final season ....

62 catches (5th - 3 less than 3rd)
882 yards (4th - 4 less yds than 3rd)
11 TD (2nd - Judy/ALA 12 in 1st)
73.7 YPG (5th - 6 yds less than 3rd)

Career - 30 total games

16 receiving TD
7 rush TD
2 passing TD
4 kickoff/punt return TD
1 fumble recovery TD

his Gamecock career has been its own "30 for 30" special - 30 TD in 30 games.

Deebo's 4 career kick returns for TD ties him with Evan Berry (TN), Brandon Boykin (GA), Andre Dubose (FL) & Willie Gault (TN) for the most-ever in SEC history.

his 2 TD passes in 2 ATT for 46 yards gives him a 623% career passer rating.

he doesn't need to play in the bowl game - just walk across the stage at the CLA and shake Pastides hand on the 17th and get ready for the NFL - then take care of his family. #ForeverToDeebo

Excellent stuff 1801.

loling at the serial downvoter in our midst ... God Bless you whoever you are.

Good story about how Deebo was recruited I read online from GoGamecocks this morning.

Interesting how many short, fast, utility type WRs we've had this decade that seem to be out of the same mold. Bruce, Deebo, Byrd, ... and I'm forgetting one. Dammit my memory again ... kid had a good season in the NFL this year too. I wanna say his name starts with an O ... what the heck. Oh wait, that's it, I got it. Pharoh (roh for O) Cooper.

Who's next, Shi?
