Mike Shula is expected to become South Carolina football’s next offensive coordinator, GamecockCentral.com has learned.

The program has a vacancy at the position after Dowell Loggains, who spent the past two seasons in the role in Columbia, left to become the head coach at Appalachian State.

Shula spent the 2024 season on Shane Beamer’s staff with a title of Senior Offensive Assistant and worked closely with the quarterbacks, including standout redshirt freshman LaNorris Sellers.

He worked wonders with Cam and LaNorris is already comfortable with him. His name alone should help with recruiting. I personally feel this is win for Beamer.

Safe bet doesn't mean it's a bad one. Agree on it being a win. Great for consistency, as well.

I love this. It's what I felt like we should have done with Freddie Kitchens. Honestly with the background that Shula has I can't wait to see what he does.

I always thought Shula got hosed by taking the job to be the HC when Bama was trapped in sanctions hell. Not only was he a bit young for the job but the program was in absolute free fall.

He did the best he could in a no win situation. Nobody was going to come out of that mess looking good. Shula should be a steadying influence and introduce some new concepts while not junking the entire playbook and making everyone relearn on the fly.

The feedback from Bama fans I've read has been overly positive. I was a bit on the younger side when he was coaching there, so I only remember the negatives. Apparently the fact that Dave Rader isn't coaching anymore is a huge positive for Shula.

I'm excited for it, honestly.
