Hard to beat the best or 2nd best team in the country AND the refs.

Thought our guys played hard. The offense never gave up. We just don't have the horses to run with them.

I'll say this, with our gauntlet of a schedule and Clempson's cake walk we will be battle tested and they won't. With Ryan we've got a chance against them.

I don't want to criticize you for your fandom, because I really wish this was true, but our last QB passed for 500 yds and 5 TDs against them, and we still lost to them by 20 pts. Our defense seriously needs to start improving....

Conway you've likely already dug into these numbers, but Muschamp's 'defense' - since the embarrassing 17-point collapse at Florida last year - has given up an alarming number of 70+ yard TD drives against the P5 the opponents he's played.

at Florida - 75, 75, 89
at CU - 75, 97, 95, 70, 75, 80, 98
vs Virginia - 77, 90
vs No Carolina - 70, 98, 95
vs Alabama - 96, 70, 75, 80

19 TD drives of 70+ yds allowed against the past five P5 opponents. another 6 TD drives were 65+ yds. Muschamp's defense has managed only 8 3&Outs in those same games.

Muschamp's defenses have been at the bottom of the league (13th or 14th) in Opponent First Downs for the better part of his 4 seasons, 2017 being the outlier (8th). it's an ugly trait resulting from his stubborn "let the opponent frolic between the 10's and pray for a RZ stop/FG" mentality. add in putrid tackling and it's a recipe for losing that no QB/offense can overcome.

Agree with this completely. If you look at the close games we have been in over the last few years, even an average defense gets us at like eight or nine wins. Our defense got some turnovers in 2017, and as you saw, even with a struggling offense that year, we won 9 games. Our offense has improved these last couple of years, but the defense just keeps getting worse. It's a trend that has to stop. As you pointed out, if your QB puts up over 500 yards of offense, and it isn't even close, you have problems.

Perfect example of this is the 2014 team. We had a dynamic offense (for our standards), but the defense literally lost us games. We could have easily had nine or ten wins that year.

That's not a good stat, but come on.

Clemson won the National Championship last year (though this year's offense doesn't seem as dynamic as that). They actually put up 40+ points on a team that sent a lot of guys to the pros to do it.

As for Alabama this year. Tell me what you do about those WR's? I have literally never seen anything like it. Four guys who look like they will be early first round draft picks, including Jeudy who compares very well to Julio Jones.

We definitely didn't tackle well, but I can see Alabama winning it all, even if that defense doesn't improve.

The game that concerns me is the North Carolina game this year. And the Florida one from last.

This is why I think Mizzou is going to beat us soundly. I have zero faith in us stopping Kelly Bryant.

I think it will definitely be a shoot out. He will be completing short, easy throws on us all day. He will probably throw in a 50 yard run as well.

He posted to the wrong person. Chs capital is Columbua High School Capitals. He and I graduated from there.

Im waiting for mr. Sinister to show up and tell everyone to stop complaining because we are being mean about Muschamp. It's actually to late because Muschamp has destroyed our program and the future. frick Muschamp and Tanner.
