It's not the way I like to see our team, no doubt. But I'm not going to sit here and act like our players suddenly changed overnight, without reason. If it is/was just a handful of players, so be it. If its true that many people were able to agree on something, I have a hard time faulting them.

I do though and I know it’s not a popular opinion
But listen to the coach, he’s authority
Then once the season is over, you all come together to the new coach and tell him you don’t like him.
It starts with little shite like this and then gets worse, too many people speaking up because they “don’t like it” you have a scholarship to play football, shut the frick up and play

I know we were 2-8 and not really bowl eligible, but these were the new rules this year, the SEC wanted everyone to accept a bid, so play the game that’s put in front of us

I’m happy for the players if they actually stood up and said they didn’t want to play, whether it was due to playing for Bobo or legit concerns over COVID.

Put yourself in their mindset. Beamer addressed the team over 2 weeks ago, they still have no idea who their new coaches are going to be, a lot of their teammates have opted-out, they got blown out all season, and they’re still adhering to daily COVID protocol. Most of them were probably looking forward to just shutting it down after Kentucky and letting the new staff come in and reset things.

Expecting them to practice through Christmas for a pathetic bowl game with a skeleton crew team and temporary coaches is horrible for morale. This is the right move.

I find it hard to believe that they wouldn’t think we’d go to a bowl
The entire year we heard that there was no Bowl Eligibility, and many teams/conferences would be backing out due to Covid
The SEC wanted the cash payout and all of the teams to accept bids if they were asked

Coach may be authority on paper, but authority without allegiance doesn't really get you very far. I understand a coach having his detractors, especially an interim coach. But if your whole team decided individually to come together and tell you to get fricked, you're obviously failing as a leader. Authority, productive authority, is a two way street. Most of those players could have gotten a scholarship from a different program, but chose us. We owe them good leadership, because they can all walk away, we can only bring them back 25/year. And with what we're bringing in atm, I don't think we can afford to lose much.

And that’s why you wait for after the game
I get it they didn’t want to play in the bowl game
But just wait for that and you can voice your displeasure at the end of the season to the new coach.

Then why are we retaining the interim head guard who let them take over? So he can let the next batch do the same thing? Why fault 50+ adolescents earning 1 scholly/4yrs for one bad decision to protect one grown arse man making $1.2M/yr and a ton of bad decisions?

Given we hired Friend today, and Beamers glowing review of our existing coach staff, what if these players' action becomes the difference between retaining and firing Bobo? We could have had a bunch of punks who kept their mouths shut, and several more years of Bobo. Winning.

That couldn’t have waited a week?
And maybe they play so poorly (and not even maybe they definitely would have) it shows and he doesn’t get retained

They wouldn’t have kept their mouths shut, they just would have played the game

I don’t support Bobo and want him out, I don’t like the way the players did this

Supposedly Beamer had been talking to players one on one already, yet there's still no indication he plans to let Bobo go. The players likely felt, much like many fans, that Beamer didn't have the stones to let Bobo go. So they took a chance.

If we had a history of discipline problems, I would be more inclined to agree with you. We don't have a discipline problem (or at least we didn't two weeks ago), we have a leadership problem. So do right by the players, and fuggin fix it.

In the amount of time it took all you Mary's to go full retard over this they walked the story all the way back to one or two players in one position group having said anything like this

I really don’t think the team isn’t playing because we they didn’t wanna play
I also don’t think this is a Covid issue either

But I think the team/Ray saw a way to get out of this because they didn’t wanna play

There are at least some who didn't/haven't wanted to play, there probably is a little scapegoat covid somewhere, and ultimately, why would anyone want to go take the likely loss from UAB?

Just a bad state, put the year to rest, and give everyone SOMETHING exciting to look forward to.

Well there always the transfer portal. Then again other than Bama and Kentucky, we have/had the fewest enter.

Tennessee has had more kids transfer out of their qb room than we've had transfer off our whole arse team and one of those was to play for his dad

It's a shitty attitude no doubt, and unfortunately a popular one. I hate that. Just hope we get something to look forward to.
