Doesn't matter what forum I'm on in here. Lonnie and I get a DV on every post. I don't know who it is but kudos for sticking with it this long.

Two questions. Why have we become such a trendy place for highly ranked QB's? Do we "need" and can we keep that many guys on the roster?

No matter the answer, I'm truly blown away that we're even in the conversation.

Now can we get a couple of guys of this quality on the back end of the defense?

Imo it's because we are running a pro style offense, using some of the same concepts and terminology. This better prepares a QB for the next level.
Another reason is Dowell was a qb coach and oc in the NFL and is known to be a good qb coach. Now we have Shula that has the same skill set but has proven on a higher level. People know what he did with Cam plus there is Sellers, who has become a blooming media superstar.

Now I don't want to put a damper on this but rumor is Curtis has some demands, not NIL related, that Beamer probably wont go with but the family really likes Beamer. Georgia used to be the front runner but Carolina has overtaken them. Georgia's qb room recent implosion may slide them back out front.
While I would love getting Curtis, who has been compared to Trevor Lawrence, there is a reason Beamer has been in California with the #3 QB Brady Smigiel is currently committed to Fsu.

As far as defense J'Zavien Currence is going to be a big time DB. He blew up big time at the recent all star game. As a junior he was one of the top players all week. Look for him to make a major jump in the rankings.

You can never have enough elite QB on your team.

In the NIL world a QB, like Arch, sticking around is rare.

if nothing else you recruit guys to keep a relationship for them so you have a leg up rerecruiting them later when they hit the portal. It's amazing how many portal guys end up at their second choice out of HS

South Carolina to get one of the few spring visits to be taken by California QB Brady Smigiel.

Also named All-American as a junior in SI High school all ammericans

LINK

quote:

QB: Brady Smigiel, Newbury Park (California)

Comparing the Florida State signee to the rest of the passers in California, Smigiel certainly played like one of the best quarterbacks in the land on a weekly basis. Smigiel in his junior high school season led Newbury Park to California's CIF Southern Section Division 2 championship and finished completing 65 percent of his passes for 3,521 yards, 49 touchdowns and just three interceptions.

Once fsu fired their oc and brought Malzan in this kids family started looking around. His Dad is also his HS coach , which imo, means he knows football. His dad likes Mike Shula and is all about culture.

Beamer made a in home visit this past week.

So we have the #1 and #3 QB visiting but keep your eye on Brady

Gamecocks have parted ways with 4* LB Commitment Rodney Colton out of Georgia. Highly ranked but the kid was playing around and Beamer had enough. He is listed as a decommit but Beamer cut him loose.

Brady Smigiel has decommitted from FSU. This could be huge for the Gamecocks.

Jackson Repp 5'8" 170lb WR has committed to USC as PWO. He once had a scholarship offer from us but tore his ACL. He runs under a 11second 100. That gives us 4 new WR that all run a subpar 11.
