I don't buy this. If the smaller school with fewer alumni in our own state can do it than so we can we.

Far weaker conference with many bagmen and they have a top 3 DC and had a top 5 OC in Morris. Also have a complacent/incompetent media.

1) they play in an easier conference
2) they’ve won a title pre this

I don’t care about the conference crap. They still have to play the top tier of the SEC/CFB to win a national title and they’ve held their own in that regard too.
FFS, it wasn’t that long when we finished top 5 in the country and knocking the shite out of Clemson. This program has had its chances to have some real top tier success, it just gets botched on the field at the individual game level but proves that we’re more than capable of bringing in the right talent and coaches to do it.
If it’s anything that handicaps us as it relates to Clemson is that defeatist attitude of “well we’re just SC, maybe we’ll get 8 wins this year.” It’s a mentality that Clemson hasn’t shared and one we’ve had for decades and it’s crippled us.

No...absolutely not. This is still a team with pegs in the holes Spurrier's crew left behind that are not what we need. I am very willing to give Muschamp 3 more years to get it rolling. He did not do himself any favors by not slowly increasing the win totals. He did too well and the team won games that could have gone either way. This is just another one of them. I thought we would win after a 31-14 lead...but...I also knew they had more talent. We were not a 6 win team when we won 6 and we were not a 9 win team when we won 9. This year is more in line with what we are. Two or three years away !

This right here. We won 9 games last year because we were so good in the turnover margin. We don’t have the talent to overcome a negative TM. Yesterday was mind blankingly frustrating, but Muschamp is doing ok with the hand he was dealt. If we’re still having this conversation in 2020, then it’s time to consider replacements.

What do you think the issue is then?
Why don’t we use Clemson’s model?

If anyone follows Twitter, Ryan Hilinski has singlehandedly taken it upon himself (yet again) to breath hope back into GamecockNation. He also announced he "officially becomes a Gamecock this Wednesday."

It is sad that a 18 year old kid feels like he has to defend our program. The majority of fans understand it will take some time, but the "me now" fans are always the loudest.
Having said that, Ryan is going to be a great player and ambassador for our program.

This is pretty depressing to be honest.
I don't need a kid telling me his commitment to "breath hope back into GamecockNation"
I always had hope in my University. And a 7-5 season (which I predicted anyway) isn't going to make me lose hope, jump off a building, or have a shitty week/monday/weekend etc because we lost a football game.

I agree 100%. I feel bad for him that he even has to feel like it's necessary, tbh. We've got some shite for fans who seriously are on the brink of insanity bc of the loss, tho.
I'd rather have Willy B half full of true fans than full of half arse fans.

Yes.
Clemson also benefited from its two biggest rivals - us and FSU - totally collapsing at the same time.

it's not just us!
They are all over. We just have selective hearing.
Look at UGA (fans egging Aaron Murrays house a few years back), Bama (too many stories to tell). ETC ETC
Fans where football/their sport is their own out from life do these things.
I'm not too upset because I know that isn't how me, my family, friends etc act.

clemsun did the same thing to Tajh Boyd's house. The thing about our fans, they act like we are some powerhouse that can go out and hire any coach in American or consistently go toe to toe with schools like Georgia and clemsun for top recruits. I hope Muschamp will get it done. If he can, some bigger school will pick him up. Hopefully, he will leave us in good shape for the next hire. If he isn't the answer, we will be rebuilding again with either a coach few big programs want or a younger guy trying to build a resume. I love Carolina and will always be a hopeful fan but I am also a realist.

Lonnie, some of the posters DON'T appreciate having facts and reality thrown in their face as it takes away from their fantasy world.

I truly think people were spoiled by 11 win seasons with Spurrier (which we actually didn't win anything)
We got lucky that we had 2 First Round picks in state (another one out of state Ingram), and a 2nd round pick in Jeffery.
Although I was MUCH younger, and social Media wasn't nearly as big (although Message boards were a thing)
Did people act like this after year 3 of Spurrier?
I personally think we are something but others may think we are something else, but who knows we'll see.
I was NEVER a fan of this hire and I'm not going to make any decision on it yet just because I think we need to give him a bit more time. This isn't Bama, Michigan, OU etc, we are South Carolina, it takes time.

Anyone who wants to fire Muschamp at this point in time wants us to be set back even further behind.
Yes it sucks. And yes it’s okay to think he won’t get it done. But now would be the worst time to make a move. Let him build us back up so that if we do make a change, the next guy isn’t left with what Spurrier and Muschamp had when they took over.
Fun note: Spurriers SEC record his first 7 years at SC and Muschamps SEC record his first 7 years overall are the exact same. Muschamp isn’t Spurrier obviously, but patience is needed.
