No, fans didn't act like this after SOS 3rd season. It's his 3 11 win seasons that have our fanbase acting like they are now. The media is at fault for blowing reality out of proportion.

Regarding this.
We OWNED the state. We pulled in classes with NFL talent.
Outside of Hurst now, I can't really think of a non Spurrier guy making a significant NFL impact right now.
As SOS has said, the state's talent has decreased greatly. Clemson has been (even before the 5 peat) making strides outside the state and now they are a class name.
We need to hope CWM can do that too as having just the state locked down will now cause us to win national titles.

Did the media think we'd be good?
We weren't a pre season ranked team, and we didn't end last season ranked.
Media days had us at anywhere from 2nd to 4th in the East
Vegas predicted our O/U at 7 (reg season), we SHOULD get that, maybe more if we upset Clemson.
I think our fans more did it after last year, they saw 9 wins and thought, we can only go up! When in reality it was an extremely mediocre 9 wins.

The media was proclaiming us to be " darkhorse" east contenders and almost all the media had us preseason #2 in the east.
