Hi all. First time coming to SC for a game this weekend

Any tips for where to stay/how to get tickets and parking during gameday to get to the stadium?

Must eat food places?

I’m just kinda winging this

It's going to be really hot.

All hotels are booked within reasonable range but you might luck out and find one out around Harbison on Columbiana Drive and just Uber or Lyft to the game for ten bucks.

Get there very early or expect traffic. Noon minimum.

Plenty of good places to eat in The Vista. Also out around Harbison.

Use Gametime for tickets. Scalpers around the stadium may have a few but they'll be expensive.

Parking is plentiful if you are willing to walk a bit. Most spots are leased well in advance. You'll see signs offering spots for between $20-$30. You can also look for a spot downtown and then shuttle to the stadium.

Bernie's Chicken. Right there basically in the shadow of Willy B. To-die-for chicken.

Yes, we feast on chicken before we play. We're cannibalistic like that.

You don't have reservations for a hotel room yet?? I'd jump online real quick. Or you can try the blue door motel in Cola that's routinely featured on LivePD. It'll be entertaining, at least.

How old are you, what kind of experience are you looking for, will you be in town Friday or just coming in Saturday?

I’m on to some of you

I’m 28, just really wanting to check out the town and sites to see. Driving up dawn of Saturday and heading out Sunday evening.

I kinda figured chicken was your thing, and it’s hard to screw up so I’ll have to try the place near the stadium

Thanks for all the tips so far!

Vista is probably where you’ll find the best nightlife and restaurants off gervais. Stadium is slightly away from downtown there are a few local spots like loose cockaboose and jakos if you’re looking for some stuff within walking distance of the game.

Is there a way to DM someone on here? If so, I’m an Uber driver and will be in Columbia Saturday morning and got no problem running pickups.

Thirsty Fellow is always a good spot. And as jackmanusc said, the Vista has an array of choices as well.

Had lunch with Henry McMasters there a couple of Fridays ago.

Still the best fried chicken in the country IMHO. It was packed as usual. They move that line though.

Speaking of coming to town/the game. We just found out my sis in law and her Fam are going to be flying to the states from Australia for Thanksgiving.

Good news: They're talking about going to the game that weekend.

Bad news: She's a Clemson grad.

Conflicted right now.

There are some good hotels in Charlotte.

Buy tickets off those guys riding the bicycles outside the stadium.

I recommend parking up on North Main Street and walking to the stadium

Best chicken ever. But unfortunately not opened on weekends. Never has been. Damn shame. closes 8pm friday.

Vista is your best spot for nightlife, as the students are back and 5points is a shite show.

Vista Spots to eat:
Blue Marlin
Liberty Taproom
Colas
Hickory Tavern
SakiTumi
Takosushi
Pearlz

Mainstreet (close to vista):
Bourbon
Cantina
The Grand
Hendrix

Nightlife places there to drink/watch games:
The grand (Very cool place)
Hendrix (rooftop bar)
Pearlz(food is good too)
Pearlz upstairs (very different than downstairs)
Flying Saucer
Uncle Louies (Vista dive bar)
Tin Roof (when you wanna get a little crazier)

Just my recommendations - for parking, youll most likely just have to drive there and pay someone near the fair grounds for a spot. Usually 15-30 dollars increasing in price as you get closer. Should find spots on Olympia Ave.

Hope you have a good time and good luck!

I'm pretty sure The Loose Cockaboose closed. Also, Jako's is now J's Corner.

I would say check out these places, and see what suits you. I'm 31 so our tastes are probably fairly similar.

Places to watch a game:
Publick House (Devine Street)
Rockaway
Pawley's Front Porch
Henry's
Publico (in five points, isn't an entirely college crowd)
Home Team (see above)
Then you have like ten different regional/national sports bar chains in the Vista

Other places that aren't really game watching, but have great food:
Bourbon
The War Mouth
COA
Black Rooster

We always went on Friday evenings (more afternoon than evening..ex-husband worked next to Willy B at Lindau and I'd meet him when he got off of work). Game weekend ritual.

ETA: I though OP was coming in Friday?
